Terribles Cup IV was destined for disaster

FROM LAST YEARS Baja Racing News EXCLUSIVE INSIDERS REPORTS:

Baja Racing News.com called last year, no more SCORE at the Las Vegas Speedway! CLICK HERE TO SEE THE ORIGINAL STORY

""EXCLUSIVE! UPDATED!
AFTER CORR ANNOUNCED THEY WERE OPENING A TRACK AT PRIMM:

Yes, CORR will be at PRIMM. But, there's another story, this weekends Terribles Cup at the LVMS, will be THE LAST! All of SCOREs Nevada short course events will be at Terribles PRIMM VALLEY! Another EXCLUSIVE Baja Racing News.com Story!

Terribles Primm Valley will be an impressive facility if a short course and long loop course are envisioned and completed. Our inside source confirmed these plans. Even though the following quoted information is posted confirming the next event is still going to the LVMS!

""Yes, they are on our schedule and we have a verbal agreement.
Chris Blair
Vice President of Racing Operations
Las Vegas Motor Speedway""

More as it comes in...
The Original Report, 7-18...

Tonight, Sources close to the Terribles Cup intimated "The Primm area was also discussed as a possible venue for [future] racing events.""

No wonder why this years event was not sponsored and not required for the racers as a points race. There was never any intention to run the Cup in Vegas this year. Obviously this years cancellation was a money and contractual move. Look for the "Las Vegas Cup" at Primm, next year.

Brian Ickler and Kash Vessels to take on Baja 1000

Ickler and Vessels in Baja 1000 race for November

Brian Ickler is racing out of North Carolina this season on the Camping World East tour with hopes of landing a NASCAR Nationwide Series or Craftsman Trucks ride for 2009. Ickler, 22, and his backers – most notably parents Kurt and Lauri with support from Chevrolet – are footing the bill for his expedition into NASCAR.

“My car is all black,” Ickler said of his Chevy, which carries no sponsorship other than contingency supporters. “I'm laying it all on the line. “I've sacrificed a lot. But I realized this is a gamble I needed to take if I'm going to make it in this sport.” Last year, Ickler, driving for Bill McAnally Racing, led the Camping World West series in wins.

Brian Ickler, who is venturing into NASCAR, has been racing for nine years. Breaking into SCORE off-road racing at 14. He won his class of the 2003 Baja 1000 and will return to the 1000 in November to co-drive a TrophyTruck with future brother-in-law Kash Vessels.

POLARIS Ranger RZR First UTV To Finish Baja 500

RANGER RZR First Side-by-Side to Finish SCORE Baja 500
Side-by-Side wins UTV class

Mark Lindsay with the winning Polaris Ranger RXR SXS UTV
The RANGER RZR continues to be a force in the racing world, this time by not only winning the UTV class at the Baja 500 but by being the first side-by-side to ever finish the race.

After being the last vehicle to start, Mark Lindsay's team, consisting of Lindsay, driver Phil Holdsworth and co-driver Michael King, raced the sole RANGER RZR entry to the finish line in 19:49:30. Thirty-three miles into the race, the challenge of a loose, rocky incline brought the vehicles in front of Lindsay to a stand-still. When it was finally his turn, he blew through the obstacle with ease. The RANGER RZR did well through the sand washes, silt beds, whoops and everything the race threw its way.

"Being the first side-by-side to finish and win the Baja 500 UTV Class is a true testament to the quality and ability of the RANGER RZR," said Craig Scanlon, product line sales manager for the Polaris Side x Side Division. "We congratulate Mark Lindsay and his team for continuing to show the RANGER RZR can dominate even in the most extreme conditions."

When asked why he chose a RANGER RZR for the race, Lindsay responded, "For the Baja? This isn't farm work, you need a real machine out here."

Lindsay's team was sponsored by Afraidium Racing, FST, BS Sand, Iron City Polaris, Bronco Clutch, F2 Racing, HMF Exhaust, The Lindsay Group RE/MAX, MAXXIS tires, TireBalls, OMF Wheels and King shocks.

TOYOTA Ivan Stewart Announce 500+ HP Tundra

Ivan Stewart wants you to open your pocketbooks and buy a high-powered, gas eating new Tundra. Right when truck sales are in the toilet ("Toyota Motor Corp. ran aground in June, with U.S. sales down 11.5 percent, the biggest drop of the year for the world's No. 2 automaker. For the first half, Toyota said it sold 1,240,086 vehicles, down 6.2 percent from the first half of 2007.") and Toyota will be all hybrid by 2015.

What does Ivan drive? A Toyota Tundra…but not just any Tundra; this is a 504+ horsepower brute with 550 ft/lbs of torque that’s built to his exacting preferences. The 'Ironman Tundra'. Better grab one up while you have the chance, the green-mpg revolution, is upon us.

Announcing the Ivan “IRONMAN” Stewart Signature Series Tundra; like the man himself, this limited edition Tundra is the strong, capable and quietly confident type that stands out in a crowd of posers. It is hands-down the most powerful, limited production four wheel drive truck ever offered through any dealership. “I wanted to build a truck that I would be proud of; one that I would drive myself” comments Ivan. This is no pretend-race truck covered with badges and embarrassing stickers. Each component was personally selected and approved by Ivan and they come from the industry’s best; Bilstein, Alcoa, Magnaflow, General Tire, TRD, Hurst and more.

Program Director, Ron Flint, states “Working with Ivan to design and build these vehicles has been a dream come true for me and our team. Ivan delivers qualities you don’t come across very often anymore; things like integrity, loyalty and respect that is earned because of his character. He also loves to go fast and have fun. My goal was for these vehicles to reflect his personality and impressive capabilities”.

While not an official Toyota program, Ivan’s trucks will only be available through select Toyota dealers beginning August 1st. The Signature Series vehicle line-up will also include TRD supercharged FJ Cruisers and Tacoma Trucks. Each is offered in three Stages of build and all are assigned limited edition serial numbers.

In just a few months there will be an on-line Ivan IRONMAN Stewart Toyota Enthusiasts Club and Owner’s Registry that will bring you all the latest on Ivan’s off-road adventures, feature stories, reviews of Toyota vehicles, events and more.
