Re-introducing the HUNT SPECIAL!
2010 is a special year for Baja California and Mexico. It's also the year Baja Off-Road Racing fans can celebrate the origins of the sport, with the re-introduction of the REAL Granddaddy of them all, the 1910 Hunt Special!
William H. Hunt and his brother Clarence were machinists in National City, California, located halfway between San Diego and the Mexican border, in San Diego's 'south county or south bay'.
Following a visit from a representative of the Ford Motor Company in 1904, they became the first automobile dealers in town. Over the next two years the brothers only sold one car, but they created a lively repair business among other ventures.
They also hired themselves out as chauffeur/mechanics for special trips. Anyone in the 'auto-business' or anyone who owned an 'auto' was called an 'autoist', a term from the turn of the century. In this service, Arnie Babcock, son of the man who had built the Hotel Del Coronado (who lived on his cattle ranch 40 miles south of Ensenada, Mexico) contacted Clarence Hunt.
Arnie's many meetings and doctor appointments in San Diego (he had contracted tuberculosis) were taking a toll on his autos, even with Clarence in the drivers seat.
The wagon roads between San Diego and Ensenada were very rough and kept Arnie's cars in the Hunt brothers' shop.Arnie Babcock commissioned the building of a car that could perform over the tough stretches of wagon roads and those long stretches of off-road conditions so common at the turn of the century.
Considering these were the first mechanized wagons or 'autos' in Baja Mexico, the wagon roads were the only roads. The rest of the territory at the time was, off-road. Better yet, non-road conditions.
The amazing machine developed back in those old days, is called the Hunt Special (1910) and nicknamed 'Alkali Ike'. This nickname came from its incredible performance in those long stretches of desert or inhospitable stretches of roadless ramblings. And the dust left on the 'special' after those long desert trips.
Babcock commissioned the build in 1908 for $16,000. At the time, a Ford Model A was selling for $6,000. More great details LOADING>>>
It has a powerful engine, a double chain drive, a 60 inch tread (the width of the ruts in the roads), amazing 43 inch wheels/tires and an incredible 18 inch center clearance, for the time. Truly, the Hunt Special is the only "missing link" between the wagons of the wild west and modern desert off-road racing.
Clarence Hunt was killed before it was finished and Babcock succumbed to TB before he ever rode in the car. William Hunt, who lived just three blocks from his business in National City, died in 1974 at the age of 97.
Baja California is now considered one of the toughest off-road racing areas in the world. The Hunt Special was designed for the most challenging driving conditions, survived them all and turns 100 this year, 2010.Unusual on this car is its false hood.
Since Emile Levassor of France had developed an auto with its engine placed vertically in front of the car driving the rear wheels by means of a shaft, European cars had engine compartments out in front of the passenger compartments. You will notice that the engine of this car is underneath the floorboards. Imitating the style of those European cars, the Hunt Special was designed with a hood although the space is virtually unused.
The Hunt Special was originally tested without a rear seat or top. It is currently unknown when these modifications were made.
The 1910 HUNT SPECIAL is in a private collection in San Diego California. For Special viewing details contact us at Baja Racing News.com for details at the Editors Desk, Gary at bajaracingnews@live.com

Bob Gordon, Father of Robby Gordon, Wins Overall. Anticipated 2010 NORRA Trophy Winner
Roger Norman Motorsports Press Release Mexican 1000 & Dos Mares 2010 Proceedings Reported
""Roger Norman, off-road racer exraordinaire and owner of the Crystal Bay Club Casino, reported another “Epic weekend in the deserts of Baja.”
After capturing first place last week in the three-day NORRA 1000 Alternative Fuel Class in Mexico, and then sixth in the Dos Mares race, there is no doubt Baja was good to the Crystal Bay Casino Norman Motorsports Team.
The NORRA 1000 was a three-day staged rally that was littered with the heroes of desert racing. The most popular desert racers could be seen everywhere one looked, preparing to race their vintage pre-1989 vehicle or trying their hand at alternative fuel technology.
The Norman Motorsports Team was just as star-studded, consisting of Norman and his Crystal Bay Casino No. 8 Trophy Truck driver, Larry Roeseler, legendary motorcycle racer and Crystal Bay Casino No. 8 driver, and Mark Post, Riviera No. 3 Trophy Truck driver.
Norman started the race on Day 1 in the 49th position before working his way up the field to fourth when he successfully handed off the truck to Post, who finished the flawless day in the first position. With the success of the first day under their belt, Norman was able to start first and challenge himself to read the GPS and Roadbook while driving solo with no co-pilot to help navigate.
Post once again got handed a running truck but in La Purisima got a flat tire, which was the minor part of his problem. Somewhere along the way, the jack handle had fallen off. Post ended up waiting in the desert for almost two hours while the recovery was in process. But thanks to Brian Collins, who stopped to help, he was able to change the tire and continue the 8 miles to the finish line, taking 17th for the day.
The third day, Roeseler started and Post again took it to the finish line. This time Post was resilient. With another flat tire on his hands, he decided to finish the last 20 miles on the flat. The KMC wheel took the brutal beating all the way to the finish line with no tire, and amazingly didn't significantly damage the wheel or the brake rotor. The Norman Motorsports team ended up finishing about 120 minutes behind the overall winner, but proudly took first place in the Alternative Fuel Class.
“This was a gentleman's race,” Norman said. “Everyone at the start line wanted to race hard, but there was no nerfing and a lot more courtesy on the course than there is in a typical desert race. The whole thing was cool. My favorite part was drinking Tecate and eating the most amazing lobster I have ever tasted with the legends of the sport in the heart of Baja.”
While Roeseler and Post were competing in the final day of the NORRA 1000, Norman was at Contingency for the Dos Mares 500, where he would be competing in the Zorro Racing Team No. 69 Camaro Trophy Truck.
Come race day, Norman started seventh and had a plan of taking it easy in the beginning of the race. But before he knew it he had made his way up into fourth place when they stopped for a fuel pit. Shortly after they left the pit, coming out of a silt bed, it seemed as if they had lost the transmission and called for rescue. As they were completing the install on a new transmission, they found that it was actually the rear differential that had broken, so they were back to waiting for rescue with a replacement rear differential on the way.
After countless vehicles passed them on the course, they finally got it all put back together and were now faced with the new transmission overheating and eventually losing first and third gear. Francisco Cevantez, the truck owner who had taken over driving duties for the second half of the race, did take the checker flag at 4:30 a.m. They finished sixth after driving by the oil temperature gauge that limited them to 87 mph.""

"What an incredible adventure for the Mexican 1000. All of us had such a blast and having it a three day format was one of the best ideas around. I can't tell you how fun this event was and to be able to catch up with everyone after each day was awesome.
"Old Betsy" ran like clock work. The only thing we had to do to her is put in fuel, clean her up, add a little grease and a small amount of fluids for three days. She is truly an amazing race car. The car has sat in Bob's garage for the past 12 years. The last time it had run was when Bob and I won with her in the 1998 Baja 1000 to La Paz. Bob dusted it off did a once over on her and we ran it. That 21 year old beam car knows her way in Mexico no doubt and showed some of those newer trucks and prerunners that ran in the alternative fuels class that she can still compete. That car reminds me of "Sea Biscuit." Never gives up.
We split up the driving on all three days which was some real fun for us all. My Dad (Frank Arciero) started Day 1 and did the majoity of the running with Sean Hoglund as his Navigator. They did an awsome job working through traffic as we were the 85th car to leave the line. Now I (Ryan Arciero) know how it is when the Class 11's start. Man it took forever for us to reach the start line. It felt like by the time we took the green flag, half the field was already half way to La Paz.
Benny Metcalf and I got in in San Felipe and brought her into Bay of La to round out Day 1. We were able to get around the majority of the field and ended up being the 8th car into Bay of La.
From there Tim Crabtree took over driving duties from Bay of La to San Ignacio. When Tim reached us in Vizcano he was the fourth car there. Bob got in at the Pemex Station in San Ignacio and did the next stage to finish in Loreto. The Norman TT was leading on corrected time at that point with us not far behind in second overall. When Bob reached Loreto he was the second car to come across the finish line to end the special behind Scott Steinberger. Mark Post in Normans TT had some issues around La Purisma. That put us in the lead overall but physically behind Scott to start Day 3.
My Dad and Bob decided to let me drive the entire third day for whatever reason, and I wasn't going to argue especially with my elders so I agreed. Sean Hoglund started the day with me and did the first 64 miles in stage 1. We were able to get around Scott pretty quick as both of us made a navigation mistake right off the start in the wash headed to San Javier road. Sean and I were able to "b" line it back towards the course through some rocks and get around Scott for the physical lead. From there we first on the road for the remainder of the day. On the start of stage 2 Benny got back in with me to do the next 174 into La Paz. We ran into the Dos Mares race course when we crossed Hwy 1 headed south of Constitucion and it was pretty cool seeing the fans from that race. I think they were surprised to see us and looked a bit confused as if we were entered in that race and we had arrived way, way too early. One of the their check points even handed us a check stub as if it was one of their cars. Was a bit funny.
Benny and I were having a blast heading down the remainder of the peninsula on the pacific ocean and then made our last left turn to head back east towards La Paz. When we got to the finish line of the last special there was a huge sense of joy knowing that we were the first car and had accomplished something special. What fun. From there my Dad and Bob were already suited up at our Chase truck so Benny and I got out and the two of them got into the car and took it into La Paz and crossed the finish line with my Dad driving and Bob in the passenger seat. That was awesome to see. I have no idea how they decided between the two of them who was going to drive. When we got to the ceremonial finish line in La Paz I don't think anyone knew we were coming in because everyone looked pretty surprised to see a car. They were still in the process of setting up the finish line when we pulled up and in surprise they waved the checkered flag. There weren't that many people there when they crossed the finish line but not more than two of three minutes after that a sea of people were around us. They must of got the message late.
What was funny about this trip, is we were all looking for an incredible time, relive old memories and let "Old Betsy" run down the peninsula once again. It was a no stress race, just going down for an epic adventure. That did happen, but I am here to tell you that flew out the window when we knew there was a chance to win this race overall. The racers immediately came out in Bob, my Dad, Tim Crabtree and myself and we started look at this sucker a bit different on what we needed to do to win this race. Our first plan on why we were going down was now playing second. I guess once a racer always a racer. If there is something to win on the line, it is funny how our thought process changed.
All in all to see these old cars and bikes compete down there again was something special. To see where our sport came from and where it is today is a pretty incredible sight.
(We) cant wait to do it again!

When news of the completion of a career of nearly 1,000 miles through the cruel ways of Baja ran through the automotive world, and generated excitement provoked reaction among lovers of the great challenges in the case of Vic Hickey who became fascinated with the idea and decided to accept the challenge.
Hickey was born in 1919 attracted the attention of the people of General Motors in 1959 to develop an off-road vehicles like Jeep, was recruited by GM and was involved in many projects such as the development of the Lunar Roving Vehicle or Lunar Rover and that of the HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle), better known as the Humvee, which is the original version of the Hummer military in the 60s Hickey became a renowned inventor and manufacturer of equipment for off-road, with this background had no doubt Hickey would be in Baja. At that time the vehicle world to compete in the Baja was composed of 4x4 vehicles, sedans and almost original Volkswagen-powered sand rails, Hickey decided to design a technically advanced car, as he had never seen.
And he did, with the help Drina Miller and Al Napp, who would drive the car in the race, started building the first Baja Boot in General Motors plants in Michigan, however, know the purpose the car had to withdraw hence, as prevailed in the policy of NO GM Racing, and moved to the workshops of George Hurst.
Built on a tube chassis completely 1 ¾ "Boot hosts a V-8 Camaro located" in the middle "just behind the pilot seats, a 400 GM Hydramatic transmission, a Dana transfer case and differential Corvette, all independent suspension on all four tires, is 4x4, with disc brakes also in 4 tires, rims 36 ", power steering and torsion bar suspension, a marvel.
However, the haste with which it was built had an impact and could not finish the race, his first big break came in 1969 when he won the inaugural Baja 500.
The Baja Boot was truly remarkable car, only two were built, the Baja Boot 2 is now part of a private collection in Europe, his concept was shocking in its day and today is the basis of a class, just to see know that this is:
The first major formal event it crossed the Baja, and it was sanctioned by an organization, was announced by NORRA, the 1000 Mexican rally was a reality, just 6 ½ months after Meyers achieved improve by Ekins time in 1962 Cruise fever was such that one of their fans now, Ed Pearlman, decided to formalize the event, founded the National Off Road Racing Association and I think the race, now the times achieved in competition would be the responsibility of the organizers and would be divided into categories, but the big challenge to achieve the best time would be retained. The fair beginning on October 31, 1967 with a transfer from Tijuana to Ensenada and then would give the starting signal the next day.
Despite being the first race, and there were big challenges, the main ruling was to improve the record of the date that it was Spencer Murray and Ralph Poole on board an American Motors Rambler Sedan with 31 hours, also would give duel between Honda and the Meyers Manx, the incursion of other motorcycle brands such as Husqvarna also gave flavor to the event, the creation of specially designed and manufactured car to win the Baja and modification of production vehicles increased the level of competition. The date came and 68 vehicles were made in Tijuana, began the odyssey, the battle for first place last more than 27 hours, cars as impressive as the Baja Boot fell by the wayside, were Vick Wilson and Ted Mangels Meyers aboard a Manx who managed to arrive first and set a new record time: 27 hours 38 minutes, but the supremacy of the Meyers did not stay there, managed to also 1-2 in its category with the pair of Haddock / Smith.
Although the Manx confirmed their quality, not so with Honda, who not only did not win the general but a Husqvarna was the best bike, led by Malcolm Smith and JN Roberts with 28 hours and 48 minutes.
Is the Airport Open Down there? Report from Baja Mexico
Did you pilots get the ' Bahia de L.A, airport is officially open' notification all said was needed from the San Felipe AOE people?
"Nothing but tentative. Thinking about ARR BOLA 29th to watch that stage of the rally arrive. Gonzaga will be under water. Rancho Grande...well you know....rocks city...i consider it emergency use only TBHWY
No rooms anywhere. One of my friends here was selected for one of the 4 planes they said they'd pay for - all expenses that is. Then NORRA called me last week and asked if I would still be interested.
We are doing MMNG to enter and gas, then BOLA, hang out all night if rooms, if not allow an hour of light and skip to PSFO or MULEGE for the nite. Hit ?? for next 2 nites then go home Sunday, thru OLS. DVT.
Officially the airport remains closed under DGAC NOTAM from Mexico City (their FAA equivalent)
but as Airmech here and others have confirmed, planes seem to go in and out regularly with no upset from federales staged there.
NORRA is aware of this and wants to do everything by the book - so they have sent a list of the planes going there 29th for the rally (including mine) to DGAC for the permission to land much as is being done by the Sams who go in monthly."
Even though we may or may not get there either as part of NORRA or as an independent, Mike Pearleman had the courtesy to call and get my vitals to add to his letter to Mexico city."
Awesome Baja Bug Hits The Race
Jeff Quinn, owner of McKenzie’s Performance Products stopped by recently driving this awesome Baja. Owned by Lorenzo Pearson of West Coast Metric, the machine has quite a history dating back to the earliest days of the Baja 1000 and the famous Trans Amazon Ralley Raid” circa 1989. It was in that historic Amazonian race that WCM’s amazingly well prepared Bugazon placed 1st in class and 11h overall after nearly 900 torturous miles of racing through the bad lands of South America. But more on the car and its prowess later. What is interesting is that Bugazon has been brought out of retirement and Lorenzo and Quinn will once again be taking on all comers in this years Baja 1000. Here’s a quick note that I received from Lorenzo’s son Scott. It provides some insight into the challenges Bugazon is attacking with it’s legendary “balls to the wall, take no prisoners” attitude. This is one Bad Baja and in the hands of 2 of the most experienced, respected and fiercest off road competitors, to once again trounce the competition.

Dennis ‘Buzz’ Fromherz and brother will begin racing Thursday in grueling offroad race
By: Seth Gordon
Photo By: Seth GordonWrenching — Dennis ‘Buzz’ Fromherz (left) and his brother Jim work to prepare a 1953 Willys Jeep to race in the NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally Thursday through May 2.
Nearly 100 people have signed up to run in the National Offroad Racing Association’s three day, 1,000-mile vintage rally through Mexico’s Baja peninsula, but only one — St. Paul’s Dennis “Buzz” Fromherz — was crazy enough to do it in a 1953 Willys Jeep. “I’ll probably have a class to myself,” Fromherz joked. “Nobody else is going to run one of these. They’re going to let me go last because it’s going to be one of the slowest things out there.” Nonetheless, Fromherz plans to race the Willys — the same vehicle originally manufactured for the U.S. military — at the NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally, which features vehicles made before 1989 and will begin Thursday morning in Mexicali and end Saturday night in La Paz.
“The mystique about the whole thing is that Baja is reputed as one of the roughest terrains in the world,” Fromherz said. “What I’m impressed with is even the people, the plants and the animals — everything in Baja — have to be the toughest thing to survive the terrain and climate. It kind of reflects what the race is all about. It’s about endurance and stamina; can you make it, more or less.” Fromherz, who will be accompanied by his brother and co-driver/navigator, Jim, was encouraged to enter the race by friend Don Rotundo, who has agreed to “chase” or follow along behind Buzz in another vehicle and assist if and when problems arise. “This thing is a big event in the off road world,” Rotundo said. “It’s a major deal to those of us who do it.” Fromherz is actually borrowing the vehicle from friend Larry Fritzie, who, along with his brothers Douglas and Vince, inherited it from their father. “We were having a beer after a golf game and he was telling us about his trip,” Fritzie said. “My brother and I were sitting there and saying that we have this pretty cool ‘53 Willys, I don’t see any reason why he can’t use that. Buzz thought that was a cool idea. We said OK as long as it comes back in one piece.” The question, however, doesn’t seem to be whether the Jeep will make it through the race, but rather if Fromherz will. “I have people tell me that I have to have my wife take a 2x4 and hit me in the back about 80 times to get used to it because that’s what it’s going to be like,” Fromherz said. “It’s the second-roughest ride known to man. ... I think the jeep will make it, but there’s money on the fact that I won’t make it. Everybody’s teasing me.” Having chosen the vehicle he has, Fromherz clearly isn’t concerned with winning the race. “He’s not looking to win any trophies, he’s just looking to have a good time and enjoy the trip,” Fritzie said. “He knows it’s going to be physically demanding, but he’s going to love every minute of it.” For the past several years, Fromherz has worked in a pit crew for Honda with friends Dave McKay and Pat Hawket at the Baja races run by SCORE International, so it was no problem for him that race organizers told him he would be the last to start and asked him to help any wrecked or broken-down racers he comes across. “His idea is to have everybody have as much fun as he has,” Fritzie said. “That would almost be impossible, but they can try. He’s that type of guy.”
Roger Norman in La Paz
""In the wake of the Mint 400 win, Roger Norman will participate in the NORRA 1000 taking on the desert of Baja in a 3-day rally race. The entry list of competitors is one of the most prestigious in racing with the “who's who” registered including the team of Roger Norman and Larry Roeseler sitting among them. While the third day of the NORRA 1000 is in process, Norman will competing in the Dos Mares 500 in a different truck.
The NORRA 1000 is a three-day staged rally with unique social events at each overnight stop. The race starts in Mexicali, spending night one in Bahia de Los Angeles, night two in Loreto and then finishing the rally in La Paz. The uniqueness of this race is the two classes of competition: Vintage Vehicles which are pre-1989 and open class Alternative Fuel Technology Vehicles.
“I think the highlight of the week is going to be hanging out with all of the heros of the desert racing world…Parnelli Jones, Walker Evans, Ivan Stewart, Rod Hall and others that have essentially formed this sport,” says Roger Norman. The Norman Motorsports Team is just as star studded consisting of Roger Norman, Crystal Bay Casino #8 Trophy Truck driver, Larry Roeseler, legendary motorcycle racer and Crystal Bay Casino #8 driver, and Mark Post, Riviera #3 Trophy Truck driver.
“The biggest challenge for this race will be driving and navigating a single seat vehicle while reading road notes and GPS,” says Norman, who will be competing in an alternative fuel truck. Day one and two Norman will start, with Post finishing the day. On the third day Post will start with Roeseler taking the third days final checker flag.
While Post and Roeseler are competing in the final day of the NORRA 1000, Norman will be competing in the Dos Mares 500 which explores the greater parts of La Paz. “This is one of the most dangerous courses that I have seen,” explained Norman. “In the first 60 miles there are 500ft cliffs and all the things you could hit will wipe out a truck!” He will be driving the Zorro Racing Team #69 Camaro Trophy Truck with co-driver Alberto Sanchez. They will change half way through the day where truck owner Francisco Cevantez will complete the course.""
The Dos Mares 500 is already in full swing!
""Roger Norman and Francisco "El Zorro" Cervantes made his travels.
We had a very pleasant chat with Roger Norman and Francisco "El Zorro" Cervantes, who have given us the pleasant news of his involvement at the XVII edition of the Dos Mares 500 that has caused a lot of movement well in advance.
They with the assistance and excellent support of Samuel Araiza, prepare thoroughly and define the strategy for what is seen as the best 500 of the Dos Mares history.
Roger Norman gave us plenty of comments, he is a very accessible, not for nothing is gained the appreciation of a large number of Mexican fans. The same goes for a Class 7, a class 11, and this time the gorgeous Camaro Trophy Trophy of "Zorro" Cervantes, this, despite having three powerful vehicles in its workshops.
Roger Norman, a person which is handled very much linked to the question cybernetics, is rising all the time information to your Factbook, in which he narrates and describes that area is, with whom he is cohabiting. It is very curious that we said Samuel Araiza, who were in class 12 for two people to 85 miles per hour and Roger Norman took and took photographs.
Among other things, we trust that participate in the 1000 Mexican Rally organized NORRA, with Larry Roessel and Mark Post, in the Truck Trohy number 8, the famous "Duralast" he wrote brilliant pages in the history of Score International, Enduro Racing Team.
In its logistics Rally Mexico 1000, has contemplated driving to Loreto, on Friday April 30, and from there it moved to La Paz to get to the mechanic check the Dos Mares 500 and be able to live with fans.
The next day, it will be Norman who exit the 500 at the Dos Mares Camaro, which incidentally has a compliance engine with 750 horsepower, to drive a little over 50% of the race until the dunes, and hence is Francisco Cervantes who leave everything as it arrives at the goal.
An excellent story entrusted to us is that the famous Ex Duralast car number 8, it will be ready to compete in races exclusively in Mexico, and the issues put before the gaps appeared in their first tour of Baja California Sur, told us that wants to know the entire floor of this way. We also left open the possibility that if your mechanic and trainer will have ready the Trophy Truck # 8, would be present at the upcoming PlayStation Coyote 300.
His first tour was the day Friday April 16 for a ride Saturday more to the driver touches the tranche, and Sunday 18 will be intense as two laps to travel.
A Norman is seen happy to be here in La Paz, and think they can get a good result, but above all, think to please the fans, which has already begun to do, since it is quite a character which every moment shows its simplicity to the fans, that's what we found.
Without doubt one of the biggest supporters for Norman and "The Fox" has Sammy was the Racing team, which bring much of its logistics and experience in the careers of these distinguished guests who are served by an excellent host as is Samuel Araiza.""
Southern Baja Teams Prepare for the battle of the Dos Mares Race
""Barreda Vìctor tested in the Trophy Truck Motorsports Coppel. One of the surprises for this Dos Mares 500, no doubt, is the inclusion of Victor Barreda, a pilot for Standard Class 1600, as pilot of the Trophy Truck team Valeria Gonzalez Coppel Motorsports. Until now, for the parallel feedback we have gathered, no one doubts the ability to successfully conduct Barreda this unit, in fact, all comments are positive and assume that will do a good job. Barreda has been characterized by excellent handling both in Class 9 and Class 16, and is also a friendly driver who always handled in a very sporting background, which we encourage you to fit even better to another type of driving, as required by a Trophy Truck. For Suddenly, last Friday, 16, Barreda made his first test at the Circuito Bronco Race Park, with satisfactory results, giving about ten laps of the short course, where he could feel the Trophy Truck, check the type of acceleration, braking behavior in the ramps and other features of these units. Barreda On Saturday would make their journeys to the entire route, and Sunday 18, try the same route in the Trophy Truck, to accommodate the even more time and check that the vehicle is so good. The test will be from Saladito (starting point of the competition) to Las Golondrinas. As for race strategy, it will be Vìctor Barreda who exit at the Saladito, carrying as passenger Avelino "Pipo" Carrillo, drive up 194 km, where the relay will Valerio Gonzàlez to drive to the finish. Barreda As you get off the Trophy Truck, will be waiting for your Standard Class 1600 which in turn will drive home John Cota, and Victor tries to get the best possible results in two highly competitive categories. For now, Chavez is in and thinks his second journey to go before two more times in order to ensure better preparation and determine a strategy to help you achieve the goal.""

Today, Monday, April 26 at about 9:00 am. held a press conference what the event is called Dos Mares/Two Seas Mexican 1000, giving the details and progress, making mention of the various security and executives and managers of the event organizer, present Eliseo Garcia who we gave an interview about what is the return of NORRA.
ELISEO GARCIA, DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS IN MEXICO FOR NORRA.
How does it feel to revive the organization over the years in off road innovation? Like I said, NORRA from its inception has always been innovating in the off road and believe that the fact of bringing it to life again, cars right now are in museum or library people never thought to see them again, so it is again proud to call brokers and may in some way to draw attention to some of the likes of Parnelli Jones, Walker Evans, Rod Hall, runners who thought they were probably removed and re-imagined ever getting into a car, the car that ran for over 30 years arrived in La Paz.
Then they are mixed feelings, many of the promoters told us, we did not think possible, is the beauty of the event, reliving moments passed, but at the same time give a different touch, we adopt the more relaxed type of rally, somewhat relaxed, which gives you the opportunity to rest in Bahia de los Angeles, Loreto and finally arrived in La Paz, with the idea that vehicles can be repaired if necessary and the same drivers make their repairs life because they are somewhat higher, but the challenge is that precisely, to compare, for example: Rick Johnson, John Swift, Andy McMillin, Roger Norman, Mark Post, are corridors that are currently running trophy truck and run but in the case against different, we'll see how it behaves Rick Johnson and Andy competed in a car that his grandfather 30 years ago.
What is the purpose of NORRA? NORRA The idea is to honor the past, where they can run old cars and also a future where develop new technologies developed as off-road technology today.
That is the challenge Mexican 1000, we plan to continue year after year with completion in La Paz and we want to take into account is that this organization who has two basic categories, The basic and alternative energy categories where shall Roger Norman.
It is a very nice experience, I can say I've made many friends here in La Paz, the people welcomed us with open arms, the organization with the club next to La Paz of Osor Probaja, we see that is serious and formal, I can say to professional and successful that we liked a lot.
So far I have only to tell them to prepare, we will be a bit earlier than usual on the track of the two seas, beware a bit, do not throw litter, protect the sport is in fact the idea, people can see these little old car running again. Thank you very much everybody, this first day we said Eliseo Garcia.
