Baja 1000 LIVE in Ensenada for Contingency

Good Morning Ensenada!
A bright and clear Wednesday morning, teams were out early today, taking care of last minute details and preparing for vehicle inspections and contingency check-ins next to the San Nicholas Hotel in downtown Ensenada. Overnight, one team that will go nameless had some last minute pre-running to do east of town. They got lost, encountered heavy fog and it was a mess.

One of the benefits of the course moving inland and into the inland Lower Colorado Sonoran Desert near San Felipe, is that most racers will not have to endure coatal fogs until much later in the race. We have provided LIVE links so that you can track the weather the racers are riding through. Thanks to Baja Weather Service!

UPDATE!
The buzz talk today is about the 2007 Baja 1000 race from TJ to Cabo, Hell to Heaven! More details on that story are loading below...other buzz is the CF at San Felipe and Puertocitos Road tommorrow. No chase vehicles are allowed south of San Felipe, Frank from BFG announced at the pits meeting in San Diego on Sunday, that their pits will report and in some extreme cases pull over wrong driving chasers.

At last years race, Jesse James was in the front of the contingency line, but, this year there is a rumor that James is late and may not make it into contingency. Have not confirmed whether James made it or not, checking...

Also, two Super Duty's were stolen from Estero Beach Resort, overnight. Several reports of pre-runners breaking and because of time issues, being left in the desert. Otherwise, the normal loud natives drum beats looming into the night, as teams get their last instructions at the drivers meeting and their last details nailed down prior to the Green Flag dropping, early in the AM.

Most of the drivers today were saying the race will be one of survival, with Race Mile 855 being the start of the high speed sprint to the Finish Line in La Paz.
