From SCORE & Dominic Clark,
""Good fortune smiled down on veteran racer and TV sportscaster Cameron Steele, who drew the first starting position in both the featured SCORE Trophy-Truck and the SCORE Lite divisions in the computerized drawing for starting positions for next month’s 12th Annual SCORE Las Vegas Primm 300 desert race. Round 5 of the six-race 2007 SCORE Desert Series will be held Sept. 7-9 in Primm, Nev.In a sport where there is no qualifying or open pre-running (in the U.S.), the drawing for start positions has added significance and the No. 16 Desert Assassins Chevy Silverado SCORE Trophy-Truck and No. 1201 VW-powered Desert Assassins open-wheel desert race car were selected randomly in Wednesday’s computerized drawing at the SCORE Int’l headquarters in Los Angeles.
“Wow, this is so cool that I am almost speechless which is something I seldom am”, said Steele, 38 of San Clemente, Calif., a second generation desert racer who is a pit reporter for telecasts of the Champ Car World Series and just finished announcing the motorcycle events in the X Games for ESPN. “This is a great opportunity for me in both classes. I am very comfortable in SCORE Lite and being able to run that class in the morning group will definitely give me a bit of an edge to then go out in the afternoon and lead the SCORE Trophy-Trucks into the desert. We have a new SCORE Trophy-Truck and it is very capable of running with the big dogs as long as I don’t have any pilot errors.”
With one race win this season, Steele is leading the SCORE Lite point standings, but he has struggled in SCORE Trophy-Truck where he is currently 22nd in points.""
