Ruffo Team 2007 Wrap Report
2007 Pro Baja Desert Series Sub-Champions Ruffo Racing wins the 2007 Championship title in Pro-Baja’s Unlimited division. With only 8 points separating 1st and 2nd place, Ruffo Racing closed the season with a great 2nd place in class.
After great battles with more than 15 Unlimited Class teams throughout the season, state of the art race cars and a combination of desert and short course races, Team Ruffo is redefining off road racing in Baja California Sur. According to driver Andres Ruffo, “This was a great year, the battle to be in first was very hard, and we finished the season bringing home the championship in Class One.
We worked great together as a team to make constant podium finishes”. For the last event of 2007, Jorge Ruffo, team leader stated, “We purchased a newer car for the season finale. This is a ‘Porter’ Class One, it has more technology, it is faster, lighter, and will allow us to be more competitive than ever. We want to win the Class One championship again in 2008. Having secured 2nd in class prior to this years season ending race, it was a great chance to test our new car in race conditions, without concern, prior to the 2008 season. Racing in BCS is very competitive and we take it very serious, and our plan for 2008 is to make it tough for others to beat us! This season was great for the team and for our sponsors’; we finished every race in contention for the season’s championship. This was a great battle!”.
Ruffo racing proved the Toyo 35x12.50R17 Open Country M/T Tires in the open desert and short course were the tires to beat. Not a single flat tire all season. “They were incredible, my job was easy!”. NAPA Auto Parts gave us the ‘Right Stuff’ for our race car as well…suspension components, oil filters, engine parts and accessories.
What a great season it was!” For the 2007 season, car owners Andres and Jorge Ruffo, “This was another great year of racing in Baja California Sur. The team proved once again that experience is essential, and having been racing in BCS for 20+ years, team Ruffo is still the one to beat! We look forward to seeing Team Ruffo on top again in 2008!”
