The Baja Monkeys, a local off-road motorcycle team, placed second Saturday in the 125cc pro class at the 22nd annual Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 Desert Race, round 2 of the five-race 2008 SCORE Desert Series.
Members of the team, sponsored by Flying Monkey Motorsports and riding a Honda CRF250X, were Larry Perkins, Strafford; Malcolm Wood, Bolivar; Craig Goldsberry, Springfield; and Gabriel Hinshaw, Olathe, Kan. Chase truck drivers were Doug Jarmin, Strafford, and Sergio Prado, Stockton.
The race took place in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. More than 280 entries from 20 states and six countries competed in 27 pro and six sportsman classes in the 232-mile race. There were four teams in the 125cc pro class.
