CRACKHEADS VS DRUNK PIRATES!

Crackhead El Whackjob Trophy Truck #2 VS Drunk Pirate Dave Cole #118 Class 1

(pic titled “drunk pirates rock donkey 118 Baja 1000 2010 Baja Racing News LIVE”)

As some of you may have heard, the drunk pirates are putting together a hair brained idea to race a rock crawler in the Baja 1000 in November from Ensenada to La Paz in the 4454 Koh car(#118). Did i mention we are entering in class 1? Save all the speculation on if we can beat the Jeepspeeds, if Pete will get beat by a rock crawler, we’ll leave the real shit talking to the actual race results after November 20! The drunk pirates needed volunteers with trucks who want to participate in the adventure of a lifetime. Ask anyone who has been on a previous drunk pirate baja 1000 adventure, and I promise you they all will tell you the same thing. There's nothing else like it. Save the bano pics. Previous baja experience a plus but definitely not necessary. Passports are required for travel in Mexico. We will be covering our race effort live the entire time with the satellite truck and also plan to release a dvd of our adventure on Baja Racing News.com.

Crackhead Ramsey El Whackjob responded, “Drunk Pirates and Racing Clowns, Rock racer in Class 1 at the Baja 1000, is it a good idea? I don't think so.”

“Luckily we will be starting ahead of you, but you will fuck up a lot of others' race that are stuck in your slow ass dust. Ask your buddy Petered Out Sohren, he'll tell you it is a bad idea and poor sportsmanship.”

Ask the Camburg boys who thought it was OK to enter their Punk Ranger in Trophy Truck. To some of you this is a grand adventure, to others it is a real race, don't mess it up for them”.

Crackhead Ramsey El Whackjob said about the race, “there is no rivalry between dave and I, .....that would be like a rivalry between dave and a class 11......or a nfl team and the local highschool team.......its so ridiculously unbalanced its not fair.......im not trying to beat dave or any other rock machines with my team, im trying to win OVERALL, its totally different then trying to win in a limited class with limited entries........totally different strategy for each.......dave is just a shit-talker...”

An experienced desert racer replied, “We got F'd in the A by a pro truck in the 07 500 and so did half the field. Shit happens, you just deal with it.

Last years 1000 we caught a another pro truck that was out donkeying around and the second he realized a Jeep caught'em he picked up his speed just enough so we could'nt get past him. We ate his dust for 40 miles... Fuckin dick head for sure, but we just dealt with it... It's racing.”

Crackhead Ramsey El Whackjob, “Us "Old school desert guys" welcome new racers and vehicles to the sport, we just want you to start in the right place. No doubt, that is a nice "rig" and could finish well, but it can't run at the start of the race in Class 1 without causing problems and that is not good sportsmanship or safe! It is not fair to the Class 1, 10, 12, 16... cars that start behind them.

Are you kidding me, "If the car meets the rules why not race it in Class1?" - Dumb Ass - Class 1 is UNLIMITED, a Yamaha Rhino meets the rules. If this was Campbell's car and he was driving, I might feel different, but these adventure seekers are screwing with other's race.” “What picture do you want, I've race just about every class faster than a Class 11 in the last 20 plus years and won the 500 or 1000 eight times. I know what it is like dealing with slow cars that start ahead of you, we had to pass all but nine of them to win in 2008, 10th O/A. There were only 5 Trophy Trucks and 4 Class 1s in front of our Class 12 at the 500 and we did just as well at the 1000.” It'll be neat if they finish, but I'd like to see them shoot for better than 10th. 10th is lame.

Crackhead El Whackjob said. “i race to win , yes......but in a very calculating fashion.......we keep split times on all in class and try to stay at the lead pace and conserve all aspects of the truck at the same time......tires are now the weakest link on a trophy truck and need to be babied any time possible (at the recent primm 300, we started and finished on the same 4 tires while our competitors all talked, at the finishline, about how many flats they had to change durung the race, even andy changed 4, and we are the ONLY team in my class that races on NON RACE TIRES) along with the rest of the truck...”

For the Baja 1000 last year, El Whackjob spent an easy 40 g's on the truck for the race, not including race effort. The truck was faster than Baja Racing News.com had ever seen it, but the Cam Plug fell out the back of the motor and boom Race Mile 160, his motor guy said, "Sorry". End of race.

Drunk Pirate Dave Cole responded to Ramsey El Whackjob, “Nice way of welcoming some cross-over racers into your sport!

Have you seen us race? Have you been around these drivers before? Before you judge or assume their car is too slow or they have limited experience, you may want to see the car and drivers in action first. Many of these guys have huge amounts of seat time and helpfull friends with vast amounts of desert racing experience behind them. They may surprise you! And like Filarski said, any pro car/truck/driver can mess up the race for everyone behind them.....and there is a good chance this 4x4 Class 1 car can bypass any traffic jam baja throws at them.”

“My first baja 1000 driving was in 1985 in class 1600. Since then I have driven in 9 baja 1000 and won 3 of them. Have raced in class 1600 ,5-1600, 5 unlimited, 8 and 1700.

Drunk Pirate Lance Clifford has 3 baja 1000 wins and a 500 win in class 7.2 Shaffer has many wins and score and bitd championships to his credit. Mello, 100 off road wins to his name and last I checked one of them is a baja 1000 1st place trophy. Dave the car owner and "new guy" has limited desert race experience so if that is who you are worried about I would not not sweat it to much. He is driving the last leg. Our core chase crew knows their way around the peninsula and approach the race with a level of commitment and professionalism that rivals any team in the sport. Bar none. So while we may be bringing an unconventional car to race, don't think for a second that it is not a legit race effort. If we didn't think it belonged in an unlimited class we would not be racing in that class.”

“Rather then belittle your opinion by calling you ignorant, I will ask you to elaborate on your absurd shit talking.

What aspect about drunk pirates race program do you feel is going to interfere with with other competitors race ? In my 25 years of desert racing I can recount story after story of my teams aiding other competitors with everything from lifesaving medical aid, to search and rescue assistance, lending of parts, more repair assistance then I can remember, our planning covers everything from pre running every mile to having all 30 team members emergency contact info and blood type on file. So unless you are counting getting beat by a bunch of rock donkeys as screwing with others race you are simply misinformed. It's not full-time 4WD...they can put it in RWD only if they want.

Maybe the Drunk Pirates racing effort will go something like this:

Make no mistake about it. We are coming to compete and we know exactly what the requirements are to do so.”

“Ramsey I was a big fan of your's until your stupid shit talking began! Your elitist attitude is Bullshit. Its obvious that you don't have a clue who is driving this car, or know anything about the car. You feeling better about Campbell is just name association.

..... Silverstate 300 our first car was less than an hour behind the overall winner. It was his first desert race, and the next three cars where all right with him. The Ultra4 cars are not getting passed by 1600 cars, and in fact they are passing faster cars in front of them early on. Some of the guys at Silverstate stopped for every car stuck in the silt and pulled them out, and still made it to the finish line before it closed. Bad sportsmanship? Its not unheard of for the Ultra4's to dig into the 7200 within a hundred miles. I would have to go look it up but Ultra4 cars beat class one and TT's in the Silverstate as well. Because they got beat by a rock crawler do they not deserve to race in TT or C1? Ultra4 cars are Unlimited 4x4 vehicles. There is only one rule.... It needs a two speed transfer case that is operational. Since SCORE does not recognize the Ultra4 class, than the car fits in Class one. Plain and simple. I understand that you would suggest it race sportsman but really? Do you think anyone really wants to race a car like this in sportsman? IT Sucks! I know this because at the 2009 Vegas to Reno race. Ultra4 had to start at the back behind sportsman every day for 3 days. We moved all the way up to 7200 every day. I will never race sportsman in an Ultra4 car again. You can't hit a 1600 car with an ultra4 car because it will destroy the 1600 car, and 1600 cars will not move over. Guess that where the attitude is in the end. You do race 1600 still correct? We are racing Baja this year despite the economy, but I feel very passionate about Ultra4 cars. Dave and I have poured our heart and souls into Ultra4 racing for the last 5 years, and it puts me on the defense when people talk shit about them. Our cars and drivers are just starting to develop. Give us a few years and we will be pushing into the top three classes at some races. It’s just a matter of time.”

Dave’s co-dog chimed in: “for the record, I was Dave's co-dog in the #4454, now #118, for the Vegas to Reno desert off-road race. We passed about 20-25 cars, ones that got by Jason when he was parked for over an hour. We passed a lot of trucks, 10's, 12's 16's and a couple of class 1's. We were passed by one car in about 240 miles, a Trophy Truck. Dave and I were arguing about how close the truck was. I said, "go, he's not close yet," Dave said, "no, he's on us." We were coming into the rough stuff, where his car is amazing and I knew the truck wouldn't catch us. Dave pulled over for 30 seconds to let the truck pass. He is a sportsman and understands racing. He may not have a lot of 'official desert race' experience, but has as much desert experience as anyone. They will do fine.”

A desert race fan concluded, “I buy everything accept for the TT would never catch you in the rough stuff. Trophy Trucks are the baddest off road vehicles on the face of the earth and they are specially designed and built for hauling butt over rough stuff. If you think a 4 wheel drive class 1 is amazing in the rough, well you ain't seen nuthin yet. I think your driver already knew that though and THAT is why he pulled over

Most of the time buggy's are designed to be light and nimble with large doses of HP. It's 2 different approaches. The TT is big and heavy with MASSIVE amounts of HP and built to smash through the desert while the buggy takes more of a float like a butterfly and sting like a bee approach. I'm very interested to see how a heavy 4 wheel drive class 1 does against the other class 1 cars. It should be very informative. I've seen the numbers from the Master Piece in Metal 4 wheel drive class 1 car in Dirt Sports and I hope the numbers were misprinted. It showed the buggy right at 5000 lbs with 600 hp. If those are real numbers they don't seem to add up to well.”
