now-proven track record of creating, promoting and hosting the latest
form of desert off-road racing, the National Off-Road Racing Association
(NORRA) today officially announced it will stage a second vintage-themed rally this year from September 25th to September 28th beginning and ending in Mexicali, Baja, Mexico. The yet-to-be named event will be held the same weekend as the more traditionally formatted 10th annual “Mexicana Logistics 300” race of the CODE Off Road Series, and will offer competitors a second calendar date to NORRA’s General Tire Mexican 1000 rally, which this year takes place from April 27-May 1.
In a unique partnership, NORRA will work on this event with CODE, a well-established Mexican sanctioning body that attracts a very large and enthusiastic group of local racers. CODE has been instrumental in helping NORRA with the complex logistics needed to hold the annual NORRA General Tire Mexican 1000 adventure.
While event details are yet to be completely finalized with Mexican officials, current plans call for contestants enjoying a complete NORRA Tech and Contingency day in Mexicali on Wednesday, Sept. 25th before heading south to the seaside village of San Felipe the next day. Day 2 of the rally will use various roads to reach the town of Ensenada on the Pacific Ocean. On Saturday, September 28th both the NORRA and CODE racers will merge in Ensenada for a combined race and rally back to Mexicali.

NORRA Announces the earlier route described by 'authorities is wrong. The actual route will begin and end on SCORE's porch, Ensenada!

confirmed details of a second vintage-themed event for this calendar
year. Now officially christened the 2013 NORRA Mexican 500 Rally, the on
and off-road competition days will take place over a three-day period
from Saturday, September 28th through Monday, September 30th.
The new Baja Mexican 500 event – also dubbed “La Carrera del Norte” (The Race of the North).
On the afternoon and evening of Friday, September 27th will have Technical and Registration activities in the historic seaside city of Ensenada, Baja, Mexico.
The following day will feature the CODE “Mexicana Logistics 300.” Using a new format, racers from both events will traverse northern Baja on separate and shared routes. While the CODE race will be completed in Mexicali, on Sunday, September 29th NORRA competitors will be challenged in a day 2 run from Mexicali to San Felipe.
The Baja Mexican 500’s finale will take place on Monday, September 30th with a race west to Ensenada followed by the awards ceremony.
The Baja Mexican 1000 "rally" format will be used for the Mexican 500 and consists of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). Unlike the often harsh and deeply rutted race courses that are now a desert off-road racing staple.
Another note, there is no preunning allowed. Contestants will be provided chase routes, pit locations and mileage figures well in advance of the event, but will only receive GPS and official Route Books later."
Certainly the rally’s growing reputation as a deadly one, the comic relief goal of “The Happiest Race (now Races) on Earth”, is laughable after numerous deaths and injuries in recent times.

Pearlman confirms NO contact with SCORE regarding the deliberations with the Baja California authorities.
Pearlman also confirmed, no-one was authorized to release the information to the press. So, why did the mayors office in Ensenada report the developments today?
Answer: Mexicali and Ensenada are desperate for any good news at all! No Americans are visiting Baja for the holidays and the tourism department will accept any proposal that brings international travelers to Northern Baja.

Seemingly, exactly as is proposed by the local authorities in their press reports released today, Wednesday night, Norman described a proposed 'SCORE' race, he described for a new event in 2014, that mirrored the course announced in the press this morning, from Ensenada.
Begs the question. Who came up with the race format now being announced in Mexico?
NORRA or SCORE? One thing is clear, Pearlman has beat Norman to the punch and the local authorities are moving to close the deal with the vintage rally, more press releases are expected before the end of next week...Stay Tuned...

Over several days, starting on Wednesday, September 25, Registration in Mexicali, Baja California, for NORRA contestants.
On Thursday, September 26, racing begins, Mexicali to San Felipe. Friday, September 27, Contingency for CODE is planned in Ensenada, with racing continuing in the 'vintage rally' portion of the event, from San Felipe to Ensenada. On Saturday, September 28 racing continues from Ensenada to Mexicali.
Sunday, September 29, is scheduled for having the awards ceremonies in Mexicali for the CODE race and the vintage rally award ceremonies in Baja California.
CODE Off-Road currently is listing their Mexicali 300, as running October 4-6th.
The HDRA is scheduled in Laughlin for September 20-22.
SCORE has the 'five-hundred' in June and the mil in November.
Baja Racing News heard from our sources in Ensenada earlier in the month, saying the chance for more racing in Baja Norte is important to the touristic revenue based business throughout the state of Baja California.
Baja Racing News titled the new event in our 2013 schedule as "Baja Mexicali 500 September 27-29". As announcements are made by the local government, we'll update this breaking story.
Many in the Baja racing business, would have thought SCORE would have made this kind of big announcement, not NORRA.
*One source mentioned today, Oscar Ramos was almost jailed during the process of organizing the mil last year, in a confrontation with the police chief of Ensenada. Possibly indicating SCORE losing its position as 'Sole' international racing organization in the eyes of local authorities.
The vintage rally will consist of three stages: Mexicali-San Felipe, San Felipe-Ensenada, Ensenada-Mexicali. They also announced that the Mexican Logistics 300 will start for the first time in its history in Ensenada and will finish in Mexicali. The third stage of the rally and the Mexican Logistics 300 will start the same day in Ensenada!

The big mouth told the press also said that they have already mapped out different routes and options for them, so this will be revealed in coming months to continue working on the logistics of the two powers.
The three stages of the rally, the same competition format to the Mexican 1000, for motorcycles and cars that are classic and contemporary, will begin on Thursday September 26 in Mexicali and end on the same day in San Felipe. The next day, the riders will start again in San Felipe and head to the port of Ensenada to join the celebration of the 300 miles of CODE. On Saturday 28, Ensenada will separately start the rally and the Mexicana Logistics 300, although both events ending at the Laguna Salada and subsequently addressed participants at moderate speed for a symbolic target in the Plaza de Toros Calafia in Mexicali. The organizers of the rally event, which will be jointly promoted by CODE and Norra, provide minor routes to 200 miles per day, with liaison and timed stages.

""As part of the activities promoted by the City Council to promote XX Ensenada, through the Department of Tourism and International Affairs are fine tuning details for Ensenada to host a new off-road race.
In meeting with the Mayor and representatives of companies National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) and desert racers (CODE), the Director of Tourism Xavier Rivas Martinez reported that the promoters will come together to perform for the first time a race consisting of a circuit divided into three stages.
Eliseo Garcia Castro, representative Lacarra NORRA and Alfonso Esquer-CODE-holder, detailing the rally racing circuit by Baja California motorcycle offer eight categories and 16 for cars, the first contingency and technical inspection will be held in the municipality Mexicali, tentatively on 25 September and will be in charge of NORRA.
