Lordstown Motors Steve Burns on fire
The Complete Story, "Crashes & Burns", Lordstown goes racing in Baja
May 25 Final Update
Negative Sentiment Heading Into Earnings Required Positive Progress
Today, Lordstown is saying they are out of cash and need more investors! Welcome To Baja Racing!!!
Lordstown Motors went public in late 2020 via a SPAC merger. Due to a combination of a hot SPAC market and investor excitement over electric vehicle companies, shares cleared $30 at highs. Like many speculative and pre-revenue companies however, the stock was hit hard over the past several months.
While market conditions didn't favor SPACs, there were a number of negative developments that also applied downward pressure on shares:
- Lordstown was targeted in a report from Hindenburg Research.
- The Endurance participated in a Baja Race that it failed to finish and failed to report details to the public. Appearing to hide behind the mystery of the Mexican desert outside of San Felipe, Baja Mexico.
- The company failed to pay a real estate bill on time.
These negative headlines caused some analysts to question the company's targeted production timeline for its Endurance truck. In other words, the company needed to deliver positive updates during Q1 earnings to quell the negative narratives.
Q1 Earnings Falling Up Short
Unfortunately for investors, the company's Q1 earnings instead provided a list of troubling updates that should ring alarm bells for investors.
As a company that is working to bring a product to market in a capital intensive and competitive industry, the key themes that Lordstown needed to address were that production was on schedule and that financials were in order.
And that they didn't blow a wad of cash on a frivolous "let's go racing in Baja Mexico!" DUH.
Reporting After the Race
Lordstown Motors falls 6% after Endurance fails to finish Baja race
- The Endurance truck made it 39.8 miles before withdrawing from the race. The vehicle was one of 83 out the 270 entrants that did not finish the race.
- RIDE's Facebook post on the event: "We are stopping here and taking our incredible learnings back to Lordstown. Thank you to everyone at Lordstown Motors, our partners at Brenthel Industries and Elaphe Propulsion Technologies, and all of our champions – your hard work, dedication and passion for the Endurance is the reason we made it to Mexico, and the reason we’ll keep going as we continue into our Beta builds ahead of start of production in September."
- Shares of Lordstown are off 6.19% pre-market to $9.40. The stock was already on Seeking Alpha's Catalyst Watch for trading with a high degree of volatility based on options trading."
"Lordstown Motors Fails to Endure at Baja — Lordstown Motors Corp.’s all-electric Endurance pickup truck completed less than 40 miles of the 280-mile Score International San Felipe 250 track Saturday before withdrawing from the race. The electric vehicle startup had hyped its entry into the Baja, Mexico event for weeks, releasing renderings, videos of the truck in production and a sleek photograph. There was no explanation given as to why the vehicle was withdrawn. “What a ride we have had getting to the SCORE International San Felipe 250”, the company’s Facebook page read. “The Endurance’s hub motors, battery pack and software performed very well today, and everything we did and experienced in Mexico has provided us with valuable insights into how the Endurance’s technology performed and responded to the demanding and treacherous conditions”. According to race results, the Endurance went 39.8 miles before withdrawing from the race. Out of the 270 entrants, just 187 were able to finish. “We are stopping here and taking our incredible learnings back to Lordstown. Thank you to everyone at Lordstown Motors, our partners at Brenthel Industries and Elaphe Propulsion Technologies, and all of our champions – your hard work, dedication and passion for the Endurance is the reason we made it to Mexico, and the reason we’ll keep going as we continue into our Beta builds ahead of start of production in September”. Matthew Blanchard of Salem drove the Endurance at San Felipe. A second EV entry also did not finish the brutal race. Reaction posted to the company’s Facebook page was mostly enthusiastic, cheering on the small startup EV motor company. Others wanted more explanation as to why the vehicle didn’t finish the race. “The lessons learned in the desert will become part of the Endurance’s DNA, and help us to meet the rigorous performance expectations and requirements of our customers”, the Lordstown Motors’ post concluded. Lordstown Motors is in the process of beta testing the Endurance, billed as the world’s first all-electric pickup. In recent weeks, the company has come under scrutiny after a blistering short-seller report questioned the validity of the more than 100,000 pre-orders the company claimed to have secured. The share price of Lordstown Motors dropped by more than 16% after the report was issued and has since failed to recover. It was also disclosed last month that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has requested documents and information related to those pre-orders orders and its merger with Diamond Peak Holding Corp., the special purpose acquisition company that took Lordstown Motors public in October. The developments have triggered a handful of class-action lawsuits against the company by investors claiming they purchased Lordstown Motors stock at “artificially inflated” prices. Last week, the company’s stock value continued to drop, dropping 13.8% from its opening price on April 12 to the market close April 16."

From the Lordstown Motors FB Post:
"As an innovation driven company committed to building the first and best full-size EV pickup truck, pushing the envelope of what is possible is core to our DNA. The SCORE San Felipe 250 provided just that type of opportunity and we are incredibly proud to have entered and competed, and for the validating feedback we obtained on so many aspects of the vehicle. We knew this was a grueling environment and would push us. We successfully navigated the extreme conditions over the first 40-mile leg of the race with all of our mechanicals meeting or exceeding our expectations. While we anticipated significantly higher energy demand from this environment – the reality of the terrain proved to be even more demanding. During the race, when we reached the first charging stop, we analyzed the drive data, and concluded our energy usage was much more intensive than we had modeled. In our pre-race estimates, we assumed a 3X energy usage compared to normal road conditions at 200 ft. elevation. Following stage 1, however, our data showed consumption at 4 times the normal level. As we recharged for stage 2, we concluded that the next leg – more than 65 miles at net 1750 ft. elevation – could result in our vehicle stopping in the middle of mountainous terrain with no viable or accessible charging options, so we decided not to send the vehicle back out on the course. While we were done racing for the day, we continued to demonstrate the vehicle’s capabilities through an additional 10 miles of off-course driving, which only added to the insights and feedback we generated during the race. Overall, we were very pleased with the vehicle’s performance and we generated extensive feedback that we will continue to assess in the weeks ahead, including: -Our components can stand up to the harshest environment and G forces -Our in-wheel hub motors performed great and demonstrated superior traction -Our drivetrain and battery pack took the beatings dished out by the grueling conditions and stood up to the test -Our frame stood up to the conditions without any issues -Our thermal management system kept all components cool despite the vehicle pulling much more energy than anticipated -Driving in deep sand, with the required larger tires, required more energy than we forecasted -Our truck completed the stage fully intact, operationally sound and is now headed back home We tip our cap to Baja and the tough terrain and we look forward to next year. We expected to be pushed to the limit and we were not disappointed. We will continue to push our vehicle and our team to the limits because that is what it takes to successfully develop the level of market-changing innovation to which we are committed."

**Jonathan Brenthel today, officially crushed the dreams of all electric vehicle racing fans when he told a friend, "it's over, Lordstown just called, they pulled the entry, shit, fuck, no more Lordstown free money!!!".
"I do want to thank Roger for turning me on to that FREE MONEY!"
Jonathan removed his FeceFuck post today that said,
"Very excited to be involved with @Lordstownmotors in their San Felipe Baja venture with their all Electric EV truck running hub motors. It’s a big undertaking and we’re happy to be a part of it. This will use identical drivetrain, wheel motors to the production Endurance truck. We will assist with Safety and Suspension items necessary to compete in Baja along with Driver training and so many other critical parts to get through Baja! This isn’t our first time being involved with EV. *"Can't Talk About the Charges".
Burns now runs from the Feds...
SEC On The Hunt in Lordstown Ohio...
The result of the announcement today. Selling Fake News...So, the official response by Steve Burns the CEO of a so-called two billion dollar company is, we "can't talk about the charges".
No comment, because they don't want to say anything in public today, that turns out to be a lie, later...under investigation or under the penalty of perjury...they are now under orders from the attorneys.
On Monday, March 15, Lordstown responded to the Hindenberg Report by saying, wait until Wednesday, March 17, we'll address the charges in full, then. They lied, nothing but air.
Obviously, they have ALOT of covering up to do. Everything from here out, is all HIDING and COVER-UP.
Including the SEC Inquiry. Not the toothless trump admin dog anymore. Behind the scenes, the trump sec would take payoffs to be your lap dog. Of course you had to pay the donald.
The Securities and Exchange Commission has asked Lordstown Motors for more information about allegations that the EV startup misled investors about its progress to date.
Today's Lordstown Motors Corp.’s first-ever quarterly report was expected to be overshadowed by broader concerns about customer demand and progress on getting production going at the electric-vehicle startup. But, they tried to walk away. Run-away from the allegations.
Too say the least! Allegations of fraud now surround the Lordstown build and it's embattled leader, Steve Burns.
The secret story of the BURNED DOWN Endurance Pick-Up prototype put a spotlight on Burns and the Lordstown beta program.
The two-year-old company, which trades under the ticker RIDE, the company should be listed under the ticker BURN. Lordstown said Monday it’s still on track to start building its Endurance all-electric pickup truck for commercial fleets in September and promised to give an update during its earnings call.
They didn't.
The stock’s plunge over the past month wiped out all the gains since it started trading as a public company after the merger, cutting the shares to $14.45 as of this morning and leaving Lordstown’s market value at less than $2 Billion US.
Not pesos!
The latest blow came last week, after short seller Hindenburg Research published a note alleging the company has “misled investors on both its demand and production capabilities”, and waves of insiders claiming outright fraud by CEO Steve Burns.
Lordstown shares dropped as much as 5.5% today, Wednesday, March 17, ahead of the announced financial results, amid a broader selloff in the U.S.-listed EV stocks after European automakers Volkswagen and BMW announced their electrification ambitions this week.
TOP COMPANY EXECUTIVES MOVE TO PULL BAJA ENTRY! ***BIG TOP FREAK SHOW ON FULL DISPLAY**
From the Hindenberg Report: the first road-going test drive for the Lordstown Endurance prototype caught fire and burned just after embarking on its initial drive. Farmington Hills Fire Department
All of the information about the incident did not come from a company-issued statement, but from a police report obtained by Hindenburg Research. According to the report, the vehicle was on its first test drive back in January for approximately 10 minutes before the company's Director of Powertrain, said the truck started "driving weird".
He decided to pull over, at which point a fire started under the vehicle. A short time after that, the prototype Endurance was completely engulfed in flames. Like we say in desert racing, it would have burned to the ground. Except for the work of the fire department.
While the prototype fire happened on Jan. 13, it was only revealed to the public nearly a month later on Feb. 10.
According to Hindenburg, Lordstown executives with knowledge of the situation, sold $8.8 million in stock before the public was aware of the incident. The prototype going up in flames.

Lordstown Motors Corporation under investigation for unethical and deceptive business practices
NOW! Lordstown Motors CEO, Steve Burns, accused of faking & stealing people and EV technology!
***Dateline Ensenada, BC., Mexico***
The short-seller that uncovered fraud at Nikola Motors, is accusing another upstart EV maker and entrant into the 2021 San Felipe 250 desert, off-road race event, Lordstown Motor Corporation (LMC), of faking sales orders, misleading investors and technology fraud!
The Hindenberg Report makes further charges. Almost six months to the day after its broadside alleging fraudulent business practices at startup Nikola Motors, short seller Hindenburg Research is charging similar startup 'Lordstown Motors Corporation, LMC', that the company's leader is misrepresenting facts about Lordstown's technology and manufacturing capabilities.
A new shadow hangs over Lordstown
The report charges Burns used untested components to make the electric commercial pickup truck called 'Endurance'. More material allegations of how much technology the company has, just as Hindenburg charged Nikola.
Hindenberg cites specifics of a lawsuit alleging LMC stole at least some intellectual property and poached employees from 'another' startup electric vehicle (EV) maker.
Federal securities and criminal investigations now await Lordstown Motor Corp. (LMC).

-From writer Hermina Paull:
Monday, March 15, 2021: ""Shares of Lordstown Motors Corp (NASDAQ: RIDE) suffered the worst plunge in nearly five months, after short-seller Hindenburg Research revealed it has taken a short position against the electric-truck startup.
From the report: "“Lordstown is an electric vehicle SPAC with no revenue and no sellable product, which we believe has misled investors on both its demand and production capabilities”, Hindenburg revealed in a report on Friday, March 12, called The Lordstown Motors Mirage: "Fake Orders, Undisclosed Production Hurdles, And A Prototype Inferno". Hindenburg is the short-seller best known for its scathing report on EV maker Nikola Corp, which ultimately led to the demise of the company’s founder and numerous investigations by regulatory bodies.
Steve Burns and Mike Pence
"Lordstown Founder & CEO Steve Burns was described to us by former senior employees as a “Con Man” and a “PT Barnum” figure. Burns formed the business in June 2019. This followed his February 2019 departure from publicly-traded 'Workhorse', where he had served as founder and CEO." From the Hindenberg report.
Lordstown is one of many EV startups that have gone public via mergers with SPACs, or special purpose acquisition companies. Back in January, Lordstown announced it had received over 100,000 non-binding production reservations for its EV truck from numerous commercial fleets.
However, as Hindenburg notes in its report, “our conversations with former employees, business partners and an extensive document review show that the company’s orders are largely fictitious.”
Hindenburg also revealed that a $735 million order made by 'E Squared Energy' that Lordstown had previously boasted about was actually a company based out of Texas that has yet to operate a fleet.
Hindenburg’s report also said the electric-truck maker used the help of a consulting firm to create pre-orders for its products, but given that sales were non-binding, the company’s claims of future revenue were difficult to materialize into real cash flow. Lordstown has yet to respond to the allegations, but the company’s stock took a significant tumble, falling by as much as 23% on Friday, March 12.""
-'The Business Journal' of Youngstown Ohio is reporting: "Source Cited in Hindenburg Research Report Refutes Its Claims. The CEO of a company named as a source in a short-seller’s report alleging Lordstown Motors Corp. has misled investors says its findings are false. “I think it’s obvious what the report was intended to do”, says Tim Grosse, CEO of Texas-based E Squared Energy, a company that was singled out in a scathing report issued March 12 by Hindenburg Research."
***The Company Responds***
**Ohio Official Visits Manufacturing Location**
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose Visits Lordstown Motors Manufacturing Site
LaRose visited Lordstown Motors to get an update on the company and tour of the build facility. Steve Burns, founder and CEO of Lordstown Motor Corp., announced that the first Beta model for the Endurance, the company’s electric pickup truck, will role off the line in the next two weeks. “If anybody’s got doubt, maybe they believe electric’s not really going to happen,” Burns said. “There are still people that believe electric is a fad.”
**Lordstown reportedly has responded**
*Here's the response, so far. Lordstown CEO Burns said, "we'll have a response to Hindenburg on Wednesday." He continued, “We will be sharing a full and thorough statement in the coming days, and when we do we will absolutely be refuting the Hindenburg Research report”.
*The LMC press release: "Lordstown Motors Corp. today issued a statement in regards to a short-seller report written on Lordstown Motors by Hindenburg Research on March 12, 2021. The company is aware of the remarks made in the report and intends to respond as appropriate in due time. Lordstown Motors remains on track for start of production of its Lordstown Endurance all electric pickup truck in September 2021. This week, the company intends to elaborate on its progress towards start of production, including providing an update on beta vehicle production and other important business developments, on its inaugural earnings call. The call will be held on March 17th at 4:30pm ET."
*In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Burns acknowledged hiring consultants to generate pre-orders but said this was done to assess market demand.
He also told the publication the pre-order book was never misrepresented. “We are not stating these are orders and have never stated that”, he said.
The WSJ also highlighted that Lordstown Motors stated it did not have customers or pending orders in a December regulatory filing, noting there was no assurance the nonbinding pre-orders would transition into sales. In a January news release, Lordstown Motors said the more than 100,000 reservations it fielded for its Endurance truck were nonbinding.
Burns told the WSJ that some of the businesses that placed pre-orders were not fleet operators, but their intermediaries.“If a guy signed a piece of paper that said ‘I think I can move x-thousand of them,’ we believe them,” he said. “But it’s not in blood. It’s a nonbinding letter of intent.”

UPDATE March 7
The Baja desert at the San Felipe 250 is ready to stop the skateboard, today.
Lordstown Motors just announced, they've started their new project for April. Today, they released their photo of 'testing' in the California desert, just outside of Los Angeles, United States.
In the video they posted, placed below for your enjoyment, Lordstown emits how challenging the desert was/is.
We must say, for an experienced industrialist from the northeast of north america, those testing roads in the United States of America (California) are smooth carpets of flowers, compared to the off-road racing routes of the jagged and unforgiving San Felipe, Mexico region.
Lordstown Motors hasn't revealed many details of its Endurance electric pickup truck, but the company did say earlier this year that the truck will use in-wheel motors. Now we know exactly which motor Lordstown will use. They'll be licensed from Slovenian company Elaphe, and built at Lordstown's Ohio factory.
"Lordstown is setting up a 20,000-square-foot production line for the motors with input from Elaphe, a company press release said. Production is scheduled to start within the next 7 months for beta testing and pre-production vehicles." Lordstown said.
We now have spy pics from the inside of the shop in southern California of the platform being worked on for Lordstown.
Southern California build shop working the Endurance skateboard into San Felipe Baja Mexico racing shape
We'll have our chief engineer review the plans from the shop and he'll estimate the performance of the Ohio based electric skateboard on the roads of Baja Mexico, for the upcoming San Felipe desert off-road race.
"This week we tested the safety and endurance of our skateboard, with our partners at Brenthel Industries. They will provide the proper safety and driver training to compete in the San Felipe 250."

FROM LORDSTOWN, Ohio -- "Lordstown Motors Corporation, a leader in electric light duty trucks focused on the commercial fleet market, has entered the Endurance Beta skateboard in the 2021 SCORE International San Felipe 250. The 290-mile single loop race will start and finish in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico on April 17, 2021. “We feel that it is quite a significant milestone for the electric vehicle community that an electric pickup truck can compete in an environment as demanding as Baja California,” said Steve Burns, CEO of Lordstown Motors. “Our goal is to be the first electric vehicle to ever complete the San Felipe 250, and with the superior traction, weight balance and advanced software control of our hub motor-based Endurance, we are confident that we will do just that.” After being postponed in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 San Felipe 250, held in April on Mexico’s Baja California peninsula, will be the [San Felipe 250].

Well you didnt do your research. All this bruhaha LMC delivers its Beta and they are still in time for production this Sept 2021.
ReplyDeletePublishers Comment: Our research bore heavenly fruit! We pointed out Lordstown contractors in the race, "Brenthal", in fact pointed out exactly what THEY thought would be the Lordstown racing racing effort result. Paraphrased, "THEY WON'T GET VERY FAR". And THEY DIDN'T. Today, Lordstown refuses to talk AT ALL about the race results. Their 'public relations' hack, isn't doing any public relating and the company stock continues to fall.
ReplyDeleteOur take. Stick to taking fun money from baby parent GM and stay out of Baja for racing. Try to see if you can drive the POS around your block in Red Ohio, before calling it an actual "TRUCK". Truck is a VERB.
