DESPERATION

One reported DEAD ALREADY during pre-running!

We regret to inform the racing public, the racer identified as Francisco Paul Alarcón, 38, died in the incident and Noé Quintanar Castro, 40, from San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur, was injured.

The incident investigation is in the hands of the State Attorney General's Office.

Racers in the San Felipe 250 participating in the Baja desert off-road race and who were conducting reconnaissance tours of the track, 'pre-running', in the municipality of San Felipe, collided their vehicles with each other at race mile 78.

One of them died at the scene and the other was hurt. The crash, head-on and at an angle was reported to have occurred at half past six (6:30PM) in the afternoon in the area known as "Borrego", where 38-year-old Francisco Paul was killed and 40-year-old Noé was injured, both from San José del Cabo, Baja California South.

The off-road “tubed” type vehicles involved are one gray with orange and numbered 1629, the guilty party is the four seater in blue with red and white stripes and owned by visiting North Americans.

At the close of the day today Tuesday, March 29, there was no further information, since the Public Ministry and experts were expected in the area.

Paramedics from the Red Cross and Firefighters arrived at the scene and declared one of the people dead and treated the other, who was transferred to the San Felipe hospital.

BajaRacingNews.com Exclusive DEATH REPORTING

The 1600 car is entered in the race, they were out testing near the Fox test area and reportedly, turned around and started coming backwards on the course, then got hit head on, by the obviously drunk gringos.

Reportedly, the Baja south racers turned at the last minute and the dumb gringos hit them, at full speed, well over 80 mph and smashed head on, into the racing 1600 car.

The drunk gringos were driving so fast, they could not clear the other vehicle, which they struck and killed the driver!

The 1600 car, with the dead racer, is registered and insured by SCORE International.

The gringo four-seater was "pre-running" illegally above the posted speed limit on the actual race course.

It’s sketchy all over town! So many drunks, with so many vehicles hauling butt every which way.  Bull-shit pre-running the start! It's crazy how many people were on the course at the finish, today. Though, this fact had no influence on this incident.

SCORE clearly said do not pre-run the finish, only the outbound of the start. Shows how many are not following the rules or paying any attention to the driving conditions.

No question, the four-seater is guilty of manslaughter. They are running the killers tires, BFGoodrich Tires!

Killing Mexican citizens here happens all the time!

*Let's List This as the Mike T. Pyle File:

SCORE International Spec Truck Class, HEAVY-HEAVY SMACK

"Oh and just let everyone know that spec truck racing really isn’t spec truck racing. It’s just racing with the same number system".

"Steve (Sourapas) just said they got passed on a dry lake Bed. They have a new top level legal truck. He also admitted there are guys doing questionable things that they decided not to do. Why isn’t everyone calling Steve a cry baby?

I will be honest this cheater thing is really pissing me off.

All I am doing is bringing up the fact that rules need to be enforced. The fact that me doing that offends people is nuts.  I was shocked how many racers at this race don’t like me because I bring up rules. What an odd macho thing to hate on the guy that’s thinks rules should be enforced.  How messed up is it that the majority of racers think rules should not be enforced. I was standing behind two different truck manufacturers and they were making fun of me. Mocking me for thinking we need to enforce rules. WTF making fun of the hike built team that’s working hard and wants the class to mean something.  What people are saying is that it’s OK to cheat as long as you are winning and don’t get caught. So they hate on the new guy that comes in and says hey we should make sure everyone is following the rules."

Well said Mike!

TOYO TIRES Bryce Menzies takes Pole Position for San Felipe 250

Welcome To The April Fools Qualifier!

On Thusday, March 31 SCORE-International and BFGoodrich Tires, its partner in crime here in Baja Mexico, held its qualifying event for certain classes for Saturday's San Felipe 250.

Supposedly a desert, off-road race event.

The fact is, SCORE and BFGoodrich/Jackson Motorsports really are doing a third rate job for what they claim is a "World Class" event.

Qualifying left the 'Number One' truck of BFGoodrich Tires faulty driver Rob Mac, in the sand box of the qualifying course, stuck in the sand. No kidding. He had to be dug out of the ditch he drove into.

How SCORE-BFGoodrich/ Jackson Tires figured Rob's qualifying time and starting position for Saturday's race is an embarrassment!

Rob Mac of BFGoodrich Tires, pictured here, stuck in the sand.

So, who's really at fault here? Is it the so-called, 'greatest of all-time' driver Rob Mac? Is it his tires he runs, BFGoodrich Tires? Or is it the course design, by SCORE-International/Jackson Motorsports/BFGoodrich Tires/MICHELIN people? We know the answer. DO YOU???

He was stuck for over an hour, getting yanked out of the sand, reset to restart his qualifying run and all the mathematicians figuring out how to shit all over the other racers.

BAJA RACING TRUCKS

BRYCE MENZIES, No. 7 (Menzies qualified first)
- - That was the wildest driving I’ve ever done in my whole career. I think the course saw 120 laps before we went in but this SCORE Trophy Truck field is getting so intense and so fast that you have to go full ‘kill mode’ and I did. We almost had a big crash. It was a crazy run and what a blast. The truck feels really good and we’ll make sure it’s ready for the race.

JUSTIN LOFTON, No. 41 (Lofton qualified second) – It was one of the most challenging courses I’ve done in qualifying. The silt was unbelievable and in the side lap I thought it was going to be a lot worse than it was. It was a lot of fun, it was cool.

LUKE McMILLIN, No. 83 (McMillin qualified third) – We had a really good lap. It wasn’t the wildest and it wasn’t the fastest we could have gone, but it was the smoothest and smooth is fast. I think we’ll be on the top five, but you never know with qualifying. It doesn’t matter where we qualify. The top guys always shake up to the top and the slower guys will fall back with a few exceptions. The key is to really have a good truck and team and a clean run.

ANDREW McMILLIN, No. 31 (McMillin qualified fourth) – The truck did amazing. There’s a lot of new components and parts on it. We basically rebuilt it after we crashed it on the SCORE Baja 400 and it’s running flawless. I’m excited for the race on Saturday.

DAN McMILLIN, No. 23 (McMillin qualified fifth) – It was brutal out there and super soft. We got a new power plant this race and it pulled really well, I used first gear just a couple of times. The tires hooked up great. We had a good run. I can’t wait to go racing.

KYLE JORGENSEN, No. 44 (McMillin qualified seventh) – The course was really sandy. We have a two-wheel drive so we knew we had a disadvantage to the four all-wheel drivers, but the truck hooked up well. It was a pretty clean run, with just one big hit. We’ll have the truck ready for Saturday.

RYAN ARCIERO, No. 16 (DOR - Cameron Steele, qualified eighth) – We screwed up the third corner, hit one of the big ditches and that moved the truck far right. We lost some time there, but everywhere else, it went fine. The truck did what it was supposed to do but it was a handful. I’m just glad we have the truck in one piece to race on Saturday. It’s going to be a fast race course. Jose G. and the people at SCORE did a great job in laying this course out. We’re ready to kick this 2022 season off.

PAT DEAN, No. 19 (DOR – Tim Herbst, qualified tenth) – We really had a great, smooth run. It was super silty and really rough, but we had a great run and we’re super happy with it.

ROB MacCACHREN, No. 1 (MacCachren qualified 12th) – It was really dusty, soft and slow. That’s totally different from the race course, which is really fast.

LARRY ROESELER, No. 43 (Roeseler qualified 19th) – Wow. We’re happy that we didn’t hurt the truck or crash. We ran well, there weren’t a lot of options out there as far as lines and it was super soft. The truck worked really well and we had fun on the course. We’ve been down here pre-running for a week and San Felipe is always brutal, a true desert race. There’s a lot of lane options on the washes and there’s a lot of homework that needs to be done from our side.

DAN MYERS, No. 65 (Myers qualified 20th) – That was probably one of the toughest qualifying courses I’ve ever seen. It was pretty sandy and pretty rough. Overall, the truck ran well. I drove it as hard as I could.

GUSTAVO ‘TAVO’ VILDOSOLA, No. 21 (Vildosola qualified 22nd) – The course was soft, but a good one. I had issues with the truck, it was super low in power. It’s really disappointing but it happens. We’ll start in the back and it just makes Saturday much more difficult. We’ve won from the back in different circumstances and maybe we can do it again.

SCORE TT LEGEND
RICKY JOHNSON, No. 21L (DOR – Gustavo Vildosola Sr qualified first on SCORE TT Legend)
– It was rough and deep sand. The course was really beat up when we went out. It’s very action-packed, it’s very intense and you don’t know what you’re going to get. We had a clean run which will put us in a good spot and we’re ready for 300 brutal miles coming up on Saturday.

Here's Alan Ampudia Running Out Of Talent (crash-rolling his truck, Again!) at qualifying on Thursday

SCORE F-UP! Continues, changed the course to take out the soft spot where everyone was getting stuck.  The new line isn’t burned in yet so qualifiers going a bit later will have an advantage most likely. DOH!

SCORE F-UP! The qualifying course is SOFT!! Multiple trucks got stuck on the practice lap. They are trying to get everyone unstuck so they can start the first truck! DOH!
