Sept. 29

UPDATE: Numerous aftershocks of the original earthquake are now being reported.

Original reporting: Over the past 24 hours, Mulege and the Santa Rosalia area, Baja California Sur were struck by an offshore temblor of over 5, on the richter scale.

Shortly after, a severe chubasco settled over the mountains above Mulege and proceeded to drop tons of rain on the community and mountain ranches in the hills above town.

The Ensenada Rotary Club has received this plea for help from our community club in Mulege:

"After a 5.3 magnitude earthquake off the shores of Mulege hit a few hours ago, MulegĂ© Municipality was inundated with 4 inches of rain in one hour and numerous lightning strikes plus 82 mph wind gusts.

Damage reports are still coming in from the flooding. But it appears that this could be worse than Hurricane Kay.

Mulege Rotary is standing by to assist in whatever way we can. If you would like to help, you can donate at paypal.me/clubrotariomulege

As always, whatever you can do little or large is greatly appreciated."

Reportedly, Santa Rosalia was struck by a landslide during this this time. Widespread flash-flooding has also been documented.

So, after Hurricane Kay and all of its rainfall and winds this very unusual combination of impacts have caused widespread damages and human pain to the community of Mulege.

Thank you for helping!
