EMERGENCY! Ports of entry in Southern California from Mexico collapsing - Over thirty years of sustained success are over

The Ports of Entry with the US., Mexico's lifeline to all things, are under an EMERGENCY.

Baja racers must be prepared for any eventuality.

The news reporting, "On Monday, September 18, 2023 at approximately 0945 hours Pacific Standard Time (PST), Agencia Nacional de Aduanas de Mexico (ANAM) has notified US. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) of a national system issue.

ANAM has reported that all Mexican systems are down nationwide.

Currently, ANAM has not been able to provide an estimated time for system restoration. Both the Port of Otay Mesa and Tecate Commercial Operations will jointly monitor wait times in the event the issue is not resolved timely. Local law enforcement has been notified; California Highway Patrol, San Diego Police Department, US Border Patrol will be monitoring traffic as Mexican systems remain unavailable for both importations / exportations operations."

"Passenger Vehicles Halted for over an Hour Today Arrival", as processing systems were down this morning, halting entries into the US at all land ports of entry in California, causing major delays for cross-border employees (so yes, believe them). Processing systems are now up, but working slower than usual.

As explained by CPB earlier today, "Due to an increased need to process migrants at our land ports of entry, the pedestrian crossings in the western part of San Ysidro will be closed to pedestrians."

The government went further, "If demand of processing non citizens continues to surge, the Otay Mesa pedestrian crossing would also be temporarily closed. This is not the case at this time."

The statement above is not, completely honest.

PED WEST is CLOSED NOW for regular travelers, there are no plans to reopen pedestrian crossings!

Don't expect any good news in this area of public policy. We urge the Mexican authorities to assist CBP and the SD Border Patrol so this does not occur.

However, Baja Racing News is aware our enemies are bent on destroying one of Mexico's greatest assets, our good relationship with the United States of America.

One hard fact. Pedestrian crossings, are no longer viable for standard trade and recreational racing.

Very soon, the same could be said about vehicle crossings.
