"Incidents last year at Chocolate Thunder, some guy tossing fireworks lost fingers on his hand. Wife of San Bernarndino Sheriffs Deputy (contract w/KOTH for security) said they tried to air lift an injured party (ended up dying), but couldn't, due to (the) fireworks launched by the out of control idiots.
Numerous helicopter safety issues.
She said something like: "Dave Cole thinks San Bernadino Sheriffs Deputies are extortionists."
"They are demanding HUGE $$ to keep things under control."
Dave Cole got SICK of paying a ransom, so they are doing the ONLY thing sensible -- "SHUT DOWN rowdy stuff". As a good friend of mine in amateur-astronomy (my OTHER hobby) told me: "It just takes a few idiots, to RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE ELSE" (example) RTMC (Riverside Telescope Makers Conference) the NUMBER 1 amateur astronomy star party (& vendor area) in SoCal.
A NOTORIOUS vendor (Maurice Sweiss, Jew) would buy up the ENTIRE LOT of Celestron "seconds" (used returned stuff) on-the-spot, then scalp them to eager amateurs looking for deals. This didn't go very well for attendees ("How could he do this!?) to say the least. One enterprising individual, decided to get back: Put some human feces (his own) down a telescope tube, "jajaja..LOL.
San Bernardino Sheriffs Deputies were called in to make a police report -- SH*T on telescope mirror" -- John Pons, high-end amateur astronomer, designer of high-end refractor OTA (Optical Tube Assembly) using Zeiss objective/optics ^^^ jajaja..lol.
San Bernardino Sheriffs Deputies have to put up a lot of BulLSH*T with these 'avid amateurs' -- Offroad racers or Amateur astronomers NUMEROUS videos popped up, including Jerry Zaiden's son posted a video on IG, which drew some really UPSET commentary by iconic desert racers: Jerry Zaiden, Nicole Johnson, a Las Vegas native (she/Husband own)."

We were on board with the free fireworks thing and some of the other various "improvements" that have been implemented, but shutting down the trails at night is straight bullshit. We always make it point to head over there after dark to post up and watch the silliness. Pretty fuckin' stupid to shut it down f-ing maga bs when it doesn't affect the race at all."
