Off Road Desert Baja Racing Risks

HERE IS A VID ABOUT BAJA RACING

HERE IS A VID FROM THE CABO RACE IN 2004

Racing in Baja Mexico, off road events are naturally dangerous. Driving at speed over ranch roads, that are not closed to the public during the races, is just the first risk. Combine the locals drinking and chase crews driving fast and wrecklessly on the access and paved highways, is another factor.

We haven't even addressed the race course itself. Unengineered roads with livestock of every kind wandering in front of the racers. And don't forget the Baja black cows, you can't see them at night, even with some of the best lighting systems in racing.

Variable road surfaces, just like in rally racing and last but not least, the traps. The locals often set up ramps and jumps to see the racers get airborne. Too bad the drivers don;t know about the constructs, because these often lead to heavy crashes. The bad traps are the ones set up by locals to disable the competitors, whcih lead to race cars destruction and injuries and death.
