Baja Backdoor Opens November 19 for Baja 1000

Grand Opening celebration slated for Saturday, November 17 of the long awaited South Bay Expressway

A day of festivities is scheduled for Saturday, November 17, to celebrate the grand opening of the South Bay Expressway, in the south and east part of the San Diego metro area, along the border with Mexico, linking the Otay Mesa border crossing with the rest of the San Diego highway network.

This is the publics first chance to experience the new toll-road before any traffic is permitted on the new North-South connector, highway-toll-road. The new South Bay Expressway opens to traffic on Monday, November 19. So, this new highway link to parts north, will be open through the Otay Mesa Border Crossing, for Baja 1000 teams heading home on Monday, after the race.
