Baja Racing Legend Francisco "Zorro" Cervantes, Murdered in Ensenada

Baja Racer José Francisco Cervantes Sánchez, the Legend Desert Baja Racer known as "El Zorro", murdered on the street in front of his home.



Dateline: Ensenada, Baja California Mexico- 
Francisco Cervantes also known as "El Zorro", approximately 52 years old, was gunned down, murdered, Thursday, January 24th, outside his home located in Eusebio Kino and Azucenas of the Márquez de León colony.

Baja Racer José Francisco Cervantes Sánchez, the Legend Desert Baja Racer known as "El Zorro" was famous among the mechanics and competitors of the local races for his 'Trophy Camaro'. He was shot seven times. Reportedly, the killers ran off in a gray Cherokee, according to the first unofficial reports. The Municipal Police announced that around 9:58 am by report of from the Ensenada Police on the street Eusebio Kino and Azucenas of the Márquez de León colony.  Gun shots were reported.

When police arrived, they observed a man lying in the street who did not respond to the call and had reddish brown stains on his clothing. Red Cross paramedics examined the man and determined that he lacked vital signs, so the area was agreed upon and handed over to the Ministerial Police. 

The "off-road" racing corridor known as "El Zorro" had injuries from bullet wounds caused by a firearm, according to information from the Deputy Attorney General's Office, Zona Ensenada. Dependency staff reported that an investigative folder for homicide was opened.

Agents of the Municipal Public Security Directorate (DSPM) moved to close the Eusebio Kino and Azucenas streets. According to the agency, shortly after 10:00 am, when the municipal agents observed the wounded man lying on the public road, who did not respond to the officers. Upon the arrival of paramedics from the Red Cross, it was reported that he was lifeless. The victim was killed, in the middle of the public street, in the Bahia subdivision of Ensenada.
