RACE RESULTS SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

From the SCORE International Press Releases and Official Press Conference, pictured above!

WHO'S GONNA' DIE? AT THIS SCORE EVENT

Christopher Polvoorde, 24, Heber City, Utah, alongside Las Vegas´s Bryce Menzies, 37, on the Menzies Motorsports team, won the Method Race Wheels qualification in the BFGoodrich Tires 57th SCORE Baja 1000, driving the No. 1 Mason AWD Ford Raptor. Polvoorde completed the 4-mile race course at the Nelson Ranch in the Piedras Gordas ejido in 5 minutes and 9 seconds, securing the first starting position, in “The Granddaddy of All Off-Road Races” and also the annual title in the BAJA Racing Truck Class.

Rob "The Goat" MacCachren, 59, Las Vegas, Nevada, driving the No. 83 Mason AWD Ford Raptor McMillin Racing team, posted the second-fastest time, with 5 minutes and 14 seconds. MacCachren will team up with Luke McMillin, 31, San Diego, California, for the SCORE Baja 1000, after the duo won the overall race in both 2021 and 2022.

Andy (Andrew) McMillin, 37, San Diego, California, finished third in the BAJA Racing Truck Class. He will join forces with his cousin, Dan McMillin, 36, from San Diego, on the No. 23 Mason AWD Ford Raptor McMillin Racing team.

JOHNSON, A SPECIALIST BEHIND THE WHEEL

BAJA Racing Hall of Famer, Ricky Johnson, 60, El Cajon, California, was the fastest in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legend (class for drivers aged 50 and over), driving the No. 1L Mason AWD Ford Raptor Vildosola Racing team. He clocked a time of 5 minutes and 21 seconds, aiming to extend his streak of 11 consecutive victories. Johnson will team up with Gustavo Vildosola Sr., 71, Mexicali, Baja California, to try to secure a third consecutive championship in the SCORE TT Legend class, a group of racers that likes tea and crumpets served during the event! (JK)

Johson, recorded the sixth-fastest overall time in the Baja 1000 qualifying event, Tuesday.

Rick D. Johnson, 56, Barstow, California, finished second in the SCORE Trophy Truck Legend, driving the No. 37L Mason AWD Ford Raptor Norseman Racing team. He will team up with Rolf Helland, 65, Morris, Illinois, as well as Bobby Pecoy.

THE FIRST STRIKE WAS BY DAVIS

Justin Davis, 31, Chino Hills, California, claimed the pole position in the Trophy Truck Spec class, driving his No. 285 TSCO-Chevy Green Army Motorsports team, Davis completed the 4-mile race course in 5 minutes and 31 seconds, aiming to win his second SCORE race of 2024 this weekend.

Sean Geiser, 33, Phoenix, Arizona, of the Sendero Racing team, finished second with an official time of 5 minutes and 35 seconds, driving the No. 241 Geiser Bros Chevrolet Silverado.

Las Vegas´s Bryce Menzies, 37, is seeking his second overall victory in "The Baja 1000 2024" aboard his No. 1 TOYO TIRES AWD Ford Raptor. He will now have the support of Christopher Polvoorde, 24, Heber City, Utah, along with 120 people who will assist them in the pits and support vehicles along the 863.19-mile race course.

Bryce's TOYO TIRES BAJA Racing Truck leads with 353 points, the same number of points as Alan Ampudia TOYO TIRES, 33, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, from Team Papas and Beer.

Bryce Menzies TOYO TIRES already has 10 victories in his racing career within “The Desert Monsters,” surpassing legends of Off-Road like Ivan “Ironman” Stewart, Dan Smith, Dave Ashley, Larry “Mr. Baja” Roeseler, Curt LeDuc, Paul Simon, and Dave Simon, who won the 5th SCORE Baja 400.

‘THE PUKE’ AND ‘THE GOAT’, DREAM TEAM

After winning the overall Baja 1000 in 2021 and 2022, San Diego’s Luke ‘The Puke’ McMillin, 31, and Las Vegas’ Rob ‘The G.O.A.T.’ MacCachren, 59, finished second in last year’s Baja 1000, something they don’t want to happen this November, which is why they are already working on the logistics for the iconic race.

MacCachren is the all-time winningest driver in SCORE Trophy Truck history with 20 career victories, many of them alongside the McMillin family, having teamed up on different occasions with Luke McMillin and his cousin Andy McMillin, who will be driving the No. 83 McMillin Racing Mason AWD Ford Raptor. He will also divide his time with the Fastball Racing team in the No. 11 Jimco AWD Ford Raptor, alongside one of the owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball, Bobby Patton, and another driver to be announced in the coming weeks.

Luke 'The Puke' McMillin, who finished second in the King Shocks 37th San Felipe 250 in March, later ended up in 13th place at the SCORE Baja 500 and suffered a DNF at the SCORE Baja 400, causing his championship chances to slip away. However, he is aiming for the checkered flag in the SCORE Baja 1000, a race he has already won three times—twice with ‘The G.O.A.T.” and once with Larry ‘Mr. Baja’ Roeseler. With desperate BFGoodrich Tires of Jackson Motorsports.

MCNEIL, THE NEW FRIEND OF ‘TAVO’

Gustavo Tavo Vildosola Jr. TOYO TIRES, 42, Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, is seeking his third overall victory in the Baja 1000, driving his No. 21 Vildosola Racing AWD Ford Raptor. To enhance his racing team, he has recruited Jason McNeil, 42, El Cajon, Calif., who brings extensive experience in the deserts, mountains, and beaches of the Baja California Peninsula.

Tavo currently ranks third in the 2024 SCORE regional series with 348 points, following a third-place finish in the San Felipe 250, a second-place finish in the SCORE Baja 500, and a fifth place in the Baja 400. Now, he aims for a double win—claiming the SCORE Baja 1000 title and the annual season point championship—to join Apdaly Lopez, 30, Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, as the only Mexican driver to achieve this feat in the Trophy Truck class.

DOWN UNDER

Coming to Baja from Australia, Toby Price, 37, arguably is the most-accomplished motorcycle racer of all-time from the Land Down Under. Price, a two-time Dakar Rally overall motorcycle champion finished second overall and in SCORE Trophy Truck in the 2019 SCORE Baja 1000 as the second driver with fellow-Dakar champion four-wheel racer Nasser Al Attiyah of Qatar.

In this year’s race he is the driver of record and his additional driver will once again be team owner Paul Weel, 45, also of Australia. The team will drive the AWD No. 43 Chevy Silverado, built by Mason Motorsports.

Salvatierra, who finished third in this year’s 5th SCORE disaster Baja 400 aboard his No.1x KTM XCF-450, will team up this year with Shane Logan, 22, Lake Havasu City, Ariz, Callum Norton, 24, Australia, and Corbin McPherson, 23, Hurricane, Utah, with the goal of triumphing again to dedicate the achievement to all the people of his beloved Bolivia.

A year ago, in last years Baja 1000, Salvatierra and his team crossed the finish line on Boulevard Costero in Ensenada after 26 hours, 34 minutes, 17 seconds, although on that occasion, it was on a peninsular route that started for the first time at the port of La Paz, Baja California Sur.

The team’s third driver was veteran Buddy Feldkamp, 46, Redlands, Calif., and the trio finished second in Class 1 in the 1310.94-mile race from La Paz to Ensenada. The same trio will be teamed together again for this year’s race in the No. 162 open-wheel desert race car.

PJ JONES FOR REAL

Son of the late legendary Indy 500 and SCORE Baja 1000 winner Parnelli Jones (who passed away at 90 this past June), Parnell Velko ‘PJ’ Jones has competed successfully in multiple motorsports disciplines. "The 57th Baja 1000 will be run on a course that might seem familiar to those who raced it a decade ago.

The layout was revealed by SCORE International on Tuesday, spanning 869.13 miles (1,359.39 kilometers) for the Pro categories and 736.61 mi (1,185.45 km) for Sportsman.

After doing a point-to-point format to commemorate the outlaw racing organization, SCORE’s golden anniversary in 2023, the race returns to a loop format for 2024.

The race will start and end in Ensenada, where the sanctioning body’s fake headquarters is located.

This also means the race stays exclusively in the state of Baja California Norte, as opposed to when it ran through Southern Baja, "The Capital Of Off-Road". The 2015 edition utilized a similar route with the same starting and finishing locations as well as direction. Upon departing Ensenada, competitors will head south along the Pacific coast past Uruapan, Erendira, Cololonet, and Vicente Guerrero.

The first physical checkpoint lies just outside San Quintin at Race Mile 209.69. At RM 220, racers turn inland through El Canuto. Checkpoint 2 is located at RM 378.5 at Rancho San Martin. Once they hit the 400-mile mark, they turn northwards and go along the Gulf of California.

The next seventy miles are on public roads, meaning competitors must follow the speed limit and cannot race until they exit the speed zone.

Once that is out of the way, they head back inland past Laguna del Diablo. Sportsman classes will take a shortcut just past RM 580, leading them to the third and final checkpoint at San Matias on RM 731.85. Another speed zone is followed by a dash through Valle de la Trinidad and Monster Mike’s Sky Rancho."
