Talk of Ampudias taking over SCORE after next years Baja 1000 (2017) is now hot and heavy. Racers want Norman out of trying to run racing events in Mexico. "He's not respected here in Mexico". "He's a Trump suckoff". Mexicans in the sport now despise the mega-richy-rich Americano.
Now with his "championship" series collapsed, the SCORE name is now the three "Baja" Mexican race events, which can easily be owned and operated by the local Mexicans. The club of those racers would do well to negotiate a 'participation' deal with the Nevada meglomaniac. Or a new owner of SCORE or a new desert racing series.
Roger Norman, without the Trophy Truck "country clubbers", is neither a TV Show nor a race event. Roger didn't make this race event a 'throw-away', meaning it would've had no points toward his joke, "WORLD Series".
But, Rosarito was a 'points' race. Meaning, any racer who didn't show up to race (pay entry fees and so forth) is now out of the running for any SCORE class championship this racing year, in SCORE.
Still, no-one* from the club showed up. SCORE is now an official, 'throw-away-series'.
The State of Baja California, the Ensenada and Rosarito Tourism Trusts can regularly give their race event poverty welfare checks to locals rather than a multi-billionaire American, like Trump-Humping Norman!

LIVE! From the ROSARITO ZOO ONLINE COVERAGE! Completing a glorious three days of thrilling desert racing, USA’s Colton Udall rode solo to capture the overall motorcycle victory Sunday to conclude the Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge in Rosarito Beach, Mexico.
Enjoying the first SCORE race in history in Rosarito Beach and the first time in the 40-plus year history of the world’s foremost desert racing organization that motorcycles and quads had their own day to enjoy the SCORE spotlight, Ox Motorsports’ Colton Udall, Yucca Valley, Calif., rode solo on his No. 1x Honda CRF450X to cover the 128.4 total miles in a total winning time for four laps in three hours, two minutes and 44 seconds with an average speed of 42.16 miles per hour.
With a special race format, Round 3 of the four-race 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship was held through Sunday in Mexico’s Baja California. The race was run in split sessions with racers covering two laps of a rugged 32.1-mile loop course in each session for 128.4 miles total. It started and finished just south of Rosarito Beach in the Los Manantiales area south of central Rosarito. The car and truck classes ran the first half of their race on Friday and their final two laps on Saturday while the motorcycles and quads ran both of their sessions on Sunday with a break between each of the two-lap sessions.
On Saturday Mexico’s veteran Juan C. Lopez captured the overall and SCORE Trophy Truck division victory in 2:57:32 as the event had 127 starters and 79 finishers for a 62.21 percent finishing rate.
OX MOTORSPORTS
Udall rode the first two laps in 1:29:56 during the morning session and handled the final two laps following a race break of a little over one hour in 1:32:48 during the afternoon session.
Starting first in the morning session with a near dust-free ride, Udall started in the back of seven starters in his Pro Moto Unlimited class and the dusty conditions slowed him down for a slower second-half split. Udall managed a victory margin of nearly eight minutes over runner-up.
UDALL COMMENTS
A tired but pleased Udall reflected at the finish line, “I just rode the race course and tried to pass as many guys as I could. I crashed twice throughout the day. Everything is difficult on this race course. We will start prepping and getting our pits ready for the SCORE Baja 1000. The plan is to Ironman the Baja 1000 and Mark (Samuels) will be my backup if I have any issues. It has been a goal of mine since I started racing in Baja and I’ve won four championships with my teamates on two different teams. I want to Ironman because it is a goal of mine and I feel like it’s my time.”
Commenting on his first two laps in the morning session, Udall said, “I lapped three of the people that started after me which surprised me. I expected to lap more but I’m glad that it didn’t happen. I was actually equipped with a horn so I could try and get guys out of the way. The course is much worse than during pre-running because huge horsepower trucks and buggies have been racing on the course. The stuff where it is hard pack isn’t a problem but there are some nasty square edges where if you’re not careful you can crash pretty hard. All the stuff in the back where it is already broken down and soft is now really is soft. There are big silt ruts and super gnarly rocks.”
The winning Udall added, “The bike is constantly working and being abused by the rocks. It isn’t easy and a lot of guys underestimate the difficulty. They think I’m a cheater when it comes to racing the long miles. I just hammered that run and it comes down to knowing where you’re going and what you are comfortable with on the bike. I’m one with that motorcycle and I’ve been racing it for eight years now so it’s like we gel quite well. People doubt, but I think this short course will prove that I’m not taking some crazy line. I’m out there hammering the throttle and making sure I don’t crash.”
TOP FIVE OVERALL MOTORCYCLES
Following the leaders to the finish line, besides Udall and Murphy, the other riders who earned times in the top five overall motorcycle finishers were: third overall was Shane Esposito, Lake Elsinore, Calif. (Rider of Record-Francisco Arredondo) in a time of 3:10:32 on the No. 45x Honda CRF450X, fourth overall was Max Eddy, Barstow, Calif. in a time of 3:12:40 on the No. 46x Honda CRF450X and fifth overall motorcycle was Larry Serna, Chula Vista, Calif. in a time of 3:13:00 on a KTM XCW450.
TOP QUAD
Javier Robles Jr of Guadalupe Victoria, Mexico rode solo to victory as the fastest overall Quad in the race. Staying undefeated in three races in the 2016 SCORE World Desert Championship, Robles seized the day by riding his Honda TRX450R to a winning time in the Pro Quad class of 3:09:23 with an average speed of 40.68 mph.

Steadiness to the finish line earned Mexico’s veteran Juan C. Lopez the overall and SCORE Trophy Truck division victory Saturday at the Rosarito ZOO at Rosarito Beach, Mexico.
Gary Magness and Devin Housh of Mango Racing finished in a distant, last place. Despite the gift from Norman of first off the line, Friday. The race event has the crowd of victims starting and finishing just south of Rosarito Beach, the colorful resort area on the Pacific Ocean located just 19 miles from the U.S. Border south of San Diego. The actual start/finish area, hot pits and primary spectator area is located at Los Manantiales off of old Highway 1 south of central Rosarito.
On Sunday, the motorcycle and quad classes will run their dual, two-lap sessions to conclude the event.
Juan C. Lopez, 42, of Tecate, Mexico completed his four laps of rugged 32.1-mile loop course in a combined total winning time of two hours, 57 minutes, and 32 seconds over the complete 128.4 miles with an average speed of 43.39 miles per hour in the No. 18 RPM Ford F-150.
Juan C. Lopez covered the final two laps on Saturday in 1:30:05 and his first two on Friday in 1:27:27. After having the fastest time in the first two laps, he was second fastest in the second two laps on Saturday.
Finishing third overall and second in SCORE Trophy Truck after running third after Friday’s first two laps SCORE Trophy Truck heading into the final day of the race is current SCORE Trophy Truck point leader Billy Wilson, Corpus Christi, Texas who deftly cruised into the finish line Saturday in a total time of 2:59.18 with an average speed of 42.97 mph, one minute, 46 seconds behind the winning Juan C. Lopez.
What was expected to be a close finish, had an ironic twist as Lopez’s son Carlos ‘Apdaly’ Lopez crossed the finish line first Saturday as the possible race winner but SCORE race officials assessed a post-race 15-minute time penalty for a "course infraction".
The young Lopez, just 21 of Tecate, Mexico finished third in SCORE Trophy Truck and sixth overall. The reigning SCORE Trophy Truck season point champion was given a final adjusted time of in 3:10.58 with an average speed of 40.34 mph in the No. 1 RPM Racing Chevy Rally Truck.
CLASS 1 SUPERLATIVE
Winning Class 1 and finishing second overall was Jaime Huerta Jr, Calexico, Calif., who finished with a combined total time of 2:58:52 with an average speed of 43.07 mph. Brad Wilson finished second. Wilson and Huerta were the lone Class 1 finishers, out of a field of ten. Archibald never showed up to the contest.
LOPEZ REMARKS
In earning his first career SCORE Trophy Truck and SCORE overall race victory, Juan C. Lopez commented afterwards, “We had one flat today that cost us some time. (On racing with his son Carlos “Apdaly” Lopez.) We’ve been fortunate that we’ve been able to spend so much time racing together and this race just adds to Apdaly’s experience. We went to dinner last night and we got a chance to talk about today and I told him to try and avoid flats and take care of the truck.”
“When we are competing we try to keep track of each other because I always want to know how he is doing. He started out in quads and I was afraid that he might get hurt so right now his focus is on the trucks.”
WILSON COMMENTS
Reflecting on his podium run, Wilson, who won this year’s SCORE San Felipe 250 said, “I don’t think this run got us up to the top. We were just wanting to finish the race and not push too hard because going into the SCORE Baja 1000 we wanted to still be up in points. It would be nice to go in leading but it is kind of an agonizing race knowing that you have to do well but yet you have to finish.”
“We ran a really clean race today and there was nothing too crazy. We were smart about our lines. We maintained and eased our way through all of the rocks and it got us here. Having two-minute starting splits let us run more on a time trial basis which was really needed in the mountains because of cliff edges and zero visibility. After the first lap we had caught him (Carlos “Apdaly” Lopez #1) but we were both trying to be careful so it was like a slow-motion race. He was going a moderate speed and we were trying to go a little bit faster without making a mistake but we weren’t able to pass him.”

Lopez, Huerta Jr and Wilson to complete the top five finisher group were: fourth overall and second in Class 1 was Brad Wilson, Long Beach, Calif.with a time of Fourth and winning Trophy Truck Spec was Elias Hanna, Ensenada, Mexico with a time of 3:000:06 in a Jimco-Chevy and fifth overall in winning Trophy Truck Spec was Elias Hanna, Ensenada, Mexico in a time of 3:09:02 in the No. 274 Chevy 1500.

THE RACING FORMAT AND SCHEDULE TODAY!
Racing for the cars, trucks and UTVs will start at 6:20 AM, on Friday and Saturday and the course will close each day at 6 p.m. Pacific Time (PT).
The featured Trophy Truck division for high-tech, 850-horsepower unlimited production trucks will start their laps along with the Trophy Truck spec class each day at 12:40 p.m. PT followed by the group including the unlimited Class 1, Class 10 and SCORE Lites and 3:20 p.m. PT as the final race of each day.

*A child drove over and killed at the last Baja 500. No SCORE acceptance of responsibility. Though the course was not marked correctly. The racer in question had no business behind the wheel. Roger Norman personally accepted the race conditions, on site, as acceptable for his "race sanction".
*The government of Baja Sur called him a 'LIAR', in the public press. A record low for SCORE.
*Roger's Baja Sur 500, not on the schedule for 2017 and written off for good by the government because Norman lied about the race failure.
*Former SCORE owner Sal Fish has now disavowed any support for Roger Norman.
*Roger's disrespecting Imperial Valley and Mexicali Valley residents by treating them as slaves.
*The Mango Racing Death Fiasco. Gary Magness team lost one of their favorite team members in a horrible incident at the Baja 1000. None of the racers wanted to admit at the time, SCORE failed to support the impacted racing community after one racer went to jail and Roger failed to handle the situation in a timely manner. Charges of 'bail money theft' were also leveled against the race sanction.
*Roger Norman's continued, failed, copying of other peoples work. The The USA 500/Reno races, the Rosarito race, the CABO race and the Imperial Valley event. He tried buying the MINT race.
*How many people, working for Roger, are now gone with continued, multiplied inferior performance in their respective positions, the norm for the race sanction?

Trophy Truck No. 45 Gary Magness has been chosen by Roger Norman to be first off-the-line, for his Rosarito Rip-Off!
This businessman and film producer, Gary Magness, has "drawn" (fake draw) the first starting position in the featured SCORE Trophy Truck division for next week’s internationally-hyped Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge.

Born in Bozeman, Mont., raised in Texas, Magness, who lives and conducts much of his business out of Denver, drives his No. 45 Mango Racing Ford F-150 in SCORE Trophy Truck, the marquee SCORE racing division for high-tech, 850-horsepower unlimited production trucks.
Locals will swell this spectator event to an estimated 65,000. But, SCORE won't produce their promised 300 teams. So far, only 55 teams have confirmed their participation.
Tijuana, its suburbs and the Playas de Rosarito area is the largest population center next to the United States border with Mexico.
With a special race format the race will be held next Thursday through Sunday in Mexico’s Baja California. Starting and finishing just south of Rosarito Beach, the colorful resort area on the Pacific Ocean located just 19 miles from the U.S. Border south of San Diego.
The actual start/finish area, hot pits and primary spectator area will be at Los Manantiales. With competition in classes for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads, the only two days of pre-running for all classes will be held this Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT each day.
An additional practice session will be held for motorcycle and quad classes only prior to the start of their race next Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. PT. Official entries received after the drawing will be given the next available starting position within their respective classes.
FIRST STARTS
Among the other racers who drew first starts along with the number of entries to date in their respective classes are: Trophy Truck Spec – No. 200 Larry Connor, Miamisburg, Ohio/Steven Eugenio, Carlsbad, Calif., Mason-Chevy, (seven entries to date); Class 1 – No. 169 Otoniel Huerta, San Luis Rio Colorado Mexico, Jimco-Chevy (nine entries); Class 10 – No. 1002 Clay Lawrence, Murrieta, Calif., LMS-Chevy (10 entries); Class 1/2-1600 – No. 1997 Jorge Sampietro, Ensenada, Mexico, Romo-VW (10 entries) and SCORE Lites – No. 1204 Gustavo Pinuelas, Calexico, Calif., Jimco-VW (eight entries). Leading the motorcycles onto the course will be the No. 1x of Colton Udall, Yucca Valley, Calif./Mark Samuels, Yucca Valley, Calif., Honda CRF450X (five entries) in the Pro Moto Unlimited Class.
PRE-RUNNING
With 112 entries to date, nearly 150 total entries are expected at the start line with entries from 17 U.S. States and five countries anticipated. Official practice, or pre-running, on the official race course will be held sparingly. The pre-running will be held this Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT each of those two days. An additional special pre-running session will be held just for motorcycles and quads entered in the race from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. PT next Sunday (Sept. 18) prior to their race.
ROSARITO ZOO FREE! ONLINE!
Colorful race week festivities will start next Thursday with the day-long, pre-race Manufacturer’s Midway and Contingency festival starting on Blvd. Benito Juarez and will travel along the beach in front of the famed Papas & Beer Beach Club and finishing back on Blvd. Benito Juarez almost in front of the legendary Rosarito Beach Hotel.
Monster Mike's Kick-Off Party will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. PT next Thursday in the Monster Mike VIP area at Papas & Beer.
After staging at Papas & Beer, the three groups each day will parade with a police and SCORE escort to the start line 9.5 miles south of town. At 8:30 p.m. PT next Saturday at Papas & Beer, the awards celebration will be held for the car/truck/UTV classes and at 6 p.m. PT next Sunday for the motorcycle/quad classes. All of the week’s festivities will air live, including the three race days, via the internet on the BajaRacingNews.com website.

"SCORE SPECIAL FORMAT"
Unique for SCORE, the race format will have all classes racing a total of four laps over a surprisingly rugged 32.2-mile race course (128.8 total miles) split into two, two-lap sessions. For cars, trucks and UTVs, they will be divided into four groups, running their first two laps next Friday and their final two laps next Saturday. The motorcycle and quad classes will run as one large group, running all of their laps on Sunday, their first two in the morning and the final two in the afternoon following a break. It is an elapsed-time race with vehicles in each group starting in 30-second intervals. Racing for the cars, trucks and UTVs will start at 6:20 a.m. PT next Friday and Saturday and the course will close each day at 6 p.m. PT. The featured Trophy Truck division for high-tech, 850-horsepower unlimited production trucks will start their laps along with the Trophy Truck spec class each day at 12:40 p.m. PT followed by the group including the unlimited Class 1, Class 10 and SCORE Lites and 3:20 p.m. PT as the final race of each day.
Next Sunday, motorcycles and quads will start their first two laps at 10:30 a.m. PT and their final two laps starting at 2 p.m. PT with their course closing at 3:55 p.m. The start order for the second session for all classes will be an invert of the start order from the first session.
HISTRIONICS
The race features a colorful course, finalized by SCORE CEO/President Roger Norman along with Race Director Jose A. Grijalva of 32.2 miles through the foothills and around a mountain to the south and east of central Rosarito Beach. It will start and finish in the Los Manantiales area.
Roger Norman SCORE BS: "This landmark race course is another memorable example of Baja California diversity in terrain starting near sea-level and climbing up twice to around 2,000 feet. The course will be another unique jewel reflecting the majestic beauty of Baja California going through more ranches than most SCORE race courses."
Traveling in a clockwise direction, the race course weaves its way through washes, on existing trails, up and over a ridgeline trail at the top of two hills and back down into the start/finish line area off of the old Highway 1 south of Rosarito Beach at Los Manantiales.
Filled with farms and ranches, the race course goes through areas like Piedra Azul, Panchos, Loma Del Gato and Loma Bonita while racing around the famous El Cerro del Coronel mountain in areas where SCORE has never before held a race. The race course will include three physical, full-stop checkpoints, checkpoint No. 1 at race-mile 9.7, CP No. 2 at race-mile 18.9 and CP No. 3 at race-mile 27.1.
ROSARITO BEACH HOTEL
The iconic Rosarito Beach Hotel, in the heart of Rosarito, will be the site of many of the activities surrounding the Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge. Racer registration and Media registration will be held at the hotel from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT next Thursday the pre-race driver’s meeting for the car, truck and UTV classes will be at the hotel at 7 p.m. PT Thursday as well.
SPECTATORS
Local organizations sponsoring and supporting the Rosarito Beach 20th SCORE Desert Challenge are developing a unique and slightly-elevated spectator area at Los Manantiales with line-of-sight viewing of the start line, finish line, hot pits and first and last portions of the race course. The spectator area will also include food and beverage stands and novelty vendors. The spectator area will also have its own access road with ample directional signage to the area. The rest of the course will include limited access to spectators in specific locations that will be under police supervision as much of the challenging course winds through several private ranches in the area that are entirely fenced in.

Located 19 miles south of the border near San Diego, this scenic location between the alluring beaches of the Pacific Ocean and majestic coastal foothills of Baja California Norte helps to make Rosarito one of the leading resort towns in all of Mexico. The main urban district of Rosarito Beach is a four mile stretch along the beach on Blvd. Benito Juarez that is filled with hotels, condominiums, restaurants, night clubs and gift shops.

Everyone looking at the SCORE race map for this event, now sees the truth in Roger Normans administration of this race sanction.
The SCORE race map is exact same as the 2013 Rosarito ZOO event, with minor changes. One, reversed running route. Change of the Start/Finish area. A complete ban of spectators on the course.
The only real difference, Norman charges the locals a s***load of money to have his gringo death circus show up.
Lets hope the racers won't run over and kill any children this time, as they did in Ensenada during the last Baja 500!

As a part of the strategy to prevent crimes and reduce the crime rate, the Mexican army and municipal police implemented to mixed operations at different parts of the city.
For a few weeks now, they have placed "preventative checkpoints for vehicle inspections" on bulevar Benito Juárez, in search of weapons, drugs and criminals.
Since noon on Thursday, August 11, the checkpoints were on a stretch of road by Plaza San Francisco, on bulevar Benito Juárez, where municipal patrols and Mexican army soldiers were carrying out preventative reviews of vehicles. The dragnet in Rosarito has continued this morning into Tuesday, August 16.
Commanding general, Juan Luciano Rodriguez Reynaga, pointed out that the mixed operations are a part of the coordination strategy carried out by the Mexican army to attack the crime wave in Rosarito.
He asked the citizenry for their understanding in light of the bother these roadblocks causes to drivers, as their objective is to protect citizens and attack the high crime rate which has occurred recently in Rosarito.

We've been pre-running the entire course for the majority of the summer. Northern Baja Mexico has needed an event in this neck of the woods for the last ten years.
Last months new Rosarito to Tecate event is it. This Rosarito event is a good start, but what racers want is a point-to-point event with real overland challenges.
We're confident the local Rosarito hospitality will meet all the needs of the racing community. We'll report on all the details, stay tuned.

"Sept. 14-18 in Mexico’s Baja California Norte, starting and finishing just south of Rosarito, the colorful resort area on the Pacific Ocean, just 19 miles from the U.S. Border south of San Diego.
Many of the world’s best desert racers, competing in classes for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads will be in action at this year’s Rosarito Beach 20th "Desert Challenge".
SOMETHING OLD
The "SCORE" Desert Challenge has been held 19 previous times since it first began in 1995. It was held in Laughlin, Nev., USA, from 1995 through 2012 and in Plaster City, Calif., USA, in 2014.
SOMETHING NEW
Unique for SCORE, the race format will have all classes racing a total of four laps over a surprisingly rugged 32.7-mile race course (130.8 total miles) split into two, two-lap sessions.
For cars, trucks and UTVs, they will be divided into four groups, running their first two laps on Friday (Sept. 16) and their final two laps on Saturday (Sept. 17).
The motorcycle and quad classes will run as one large group, running all of their laps on Sunday (Sept. 18), their first two in the morning and the final two in the afternoon following a break. The event is an elapsed-time race with vehicles in each group starting in 30-second intervals.
Racing for the cars, trucks and UTVs will start at 6:20 a.m. on Friday (Sept. 16) and Sunday (Sept. 17) and the course will close each day at 6 p.m. The featured SCORE Trophy Truck division for high-tech, 850-horsepower unlimited production trucks will start their laps along with the Trophy Truck spec class each day at 12:40 p.m.
On Sunday (Sept. 18), motorcycles and quads will start their first two laps at 9:30 a.m. and their final two laps at 12:40 p.m. with their course closing at 2:35 p.m.

Race headquarters will be the iconic Rosarito Beach Hotel, the historical landmark in the heart of Rosarito that opened in 1925. The SCORE World Desert Championship will be visiting the popular Playas de Rosarito for the first time in its long and storied history. Contingency will start on the beach in front of the massive Papas & Beer Beach Club, just a block away from the Rosarito Beach Hotel.
Located 19 miles south of the border near San Diego, this scenic location between the alluring beaches of the Pacific Ocean and majestic coastal foothills of Baja California Norte helps to make Rosarito one of the leading resort towns in all of Mexico.
The rest of the race course will be closed to spectators as it is entirely fenced in with gate guards as the challenging course winds through several private ranches in the area."

Most importantly, the event in Rosarito Beach in September this year will be a 35 mile "race course", a 'point-to-point-loop', being held nearer to Puerto Nuevo, Baja California, Mexico. Ceremonial festivities will be held "on the beach", in Rosarito Beach, Baja California, Mexico.
Roger Norman earlier described the start and finish of this event being held at Papas & Beer, in Rosarito. Very important, because the Ampudia family will be the new owners of SCORE International, after the Baja 1000 2017. Presumably, the "50th 'SCORE' Baja 1000".
At this point, Jim said, because of all the fallout from the 'Baja Sur 500 Fiasco', the event will just barely make it to La Paz. How much did Roger have to pay the locals to finish in La Paz?
The pending sale of the organization is directly tied to all of these events.
During last years Baja 1000, the sale of SCORE was supposed to be announced. At the last minute, Roger held off, to try to get more out of the buyers, the Ampudias, of Ensenada and La Paz. Roger thought he was leaving something on the table.
This SCORE 'Rosarito' offering is a rip-off of this local event.
Now, after the 'fiasco in La Paz', the value of the sale has dropped, in half!
Jim went on to say, they know they haven't been doing race events in Rosarito for twenty years. It's just part of the hype!
